By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Los Matadores def. Curtis Axel, Ryback and 3MB Multi-man matches can usually be a train wreck, but this match was surprisingly painless. I couldn't care less about anyone involved in the match except for the Rhodes brothers (what did they ever do to deserve this treatment?!), but the action was decent while it lasted. The finishing sequence was fun and I didn't at all having a problem with Heath Slater getting pinned by El Torito since Slater is enhancement talent anyway, so does it matter? Aksana and Alicia Fox def. Natalya and Eva Marie I have three burning questions coming out of this match. First, why was Eva Marie a face after wrestling as a heel last week? Granted, it was on WWE Superstars (a show almost no one watches), but still, character consistency is key. Second, why in the hell would Natalya take the pin and not Eva? Third, why is Aksana winning matches despite badly injuring one of the top faces in the Divas division in Naomi? What an absolute mess this all was.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Hulk Hogan Addressed the WWE Universe Hulkamania is running wild! As someone who started watching wrestling in April 2008 and never got to hear "Real American" live in WWE, He received a great reaction from the live crowd and even appeared to be in better physical shape as well (not to say I want to see him actively compete or anything along those lines). His promo was short, sweet and established his host of WrestleMania role well. I don't want to get too much into this here, but he belongs in WWE. He did nothing of note in TNA and hardly helped them, not to mention he had to be a part of WrestleMania somehow. Welcome home, Hulk! Alberto Del Rio def. Batista The match was slightly better than it was at Elimination Chamber, but still sloppy. Batista gets gassed too easily, which made for a few botches. I was surprised to see Batista lose his first match back to Del Rio, and it's not like he even gained anything from it since the focus wasn't on his win at all. I was also surprised that the commentators as well as Randy Orton actually acknowledged the boos Batista has been receiving as of late. I surely hope that is a sign he is turning heel sooner rather than later. If he is still a face come WrestleMania, he will be eaten alive. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cody Rhodes and Goldust def. Curtis Axel and Ryback (Kickoff Match) I have never been more disappointed to hear Ryback's music. Seriously, why couldn't they play Axel's theme instead and allow him to get the hometown pop he deserves (and probably won't get anywhere else)? At least Larry "The Axe" Hennig was at ringside, so that was a nice touch. The match itself was well wrestled, but nothing you wouldn't see on Raw or SmackDown. It was a logical win for the Rhodes brothers to get them back on track after losing to The New Age Outlaws multiple times in the last month. No tension was teased between the two, so it appears we won't be seeing them face off against each other at WrestleMania this year after all. Intercontinental Champion Big E def. Jack Swagger Since the feud leading up to this match was basically nonexistent, no one had any incentive to care about the match. Despite that, Big E and Swagger delivered a match that exceeded expectations, so I give them props for that. It was a nicely paced, hard-hitting matchup that saw both competitors come out of looking good. The Intercontinental title also received a boost in the process. It could have gone either way, so I'm not shocked to see Langston retain, but I'm interested in if Swagger will continue to pursue the title or if Cesaro will be next to challenge for it. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Daniel Bryan def. Jack Swagger Bryan and Swagger had a good match and made the most out of the time they were allotted. However, the finish completely came out of nowhere. I know Swagger isn't even close to being on the same level as Bryan, but why would he lose so decisively? Did Creative already forget that he was the No. 1 contender to the Intercontinental Championship? This made him look weak going into his title match, but at least it was a nice win for Bryan. Daniel Bryan def. Cesaro by Disqualification As only they can, Bryan and Cesaro had another excellent match together. It started out slow but they picked up the pace down the stretch and delivered a fun final few minutes. They also told a solid story throughout with Cesaro working over the injured shoulder of Bryan. It would have been a mistake for Bryan to go over Cesaro cleanly given his injury, so why not give Cesaro the win? Bryan had an out for losing and it wouldn't have been the same thing we saw on Raw this week with Bryan and Kane. It would be absolutely awesome if Bryan is being booked to look like the ultimate underdog and come out on top on Sunday, but the odds of that happening are unfortunately slim. |
