By Graham "GSM" Matthews Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart Appeared The main purpose of Hogan's appearance was to promote the WWE Network for the United Kingdom (which will hopefully be getting it by early next year), though that much has been obvious since he first returned back in February. Hogan is notable ambassador for the WWE that is perfect for this kind of stuff, so I don't blame them for using him in this fashion. He doesn't need to get physical and as it was announced, this was his first time in a WWE ring in England in nearly two decades, so it was a nice, nostalgic moment for those in attendance. Batista def. Dolph Ziggler in a No Disqualification Match Ziggler may not be getting pushed at the moment, but when he's put in big matches against top names, he shines every time. He had an impressive outing against Batista, who also held his own here. They were given great time and utilized the extreme environment well. I didn't think for a second that Ziggler would actually win, but he looked strong in defeat and Batista came out of this looking like a total beast, so it was certainly a win-win situation.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Tag Team Champions The Wolves Confronted MVP MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley did their best in explaining their actions from last week, but the logic gaps are still very much apparent. Lashley was fine on the mic and while I'm a fan of King, he acted extremely annoying here for one reason or another. I appreciate the attempt in making sense out of all of this, but I'm not buying it in the slightest. The Wolves coming out was logical given their association with MVP and if nothing else, the attack on The Wolves, especially Lashley spearing Davey Richards off the stage, was a strong visual. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young Called Out MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley This would have been a solid segment at the halfway point of the show, not immediately following another talking segment. With that in mind, this felt like it dragged and completely pointless. Young's promo was good, but it all seemed unnecessary. Didn't Austin Aries turn heel only a few months ago? And now he's face again? I realize he's had problems with MVP all along, but so did Lashley and King and they're aligned with him now. Seriously, what is wrong with this company? By Graham "GSM" Matthews Big Show def. Titus O'Neil It's amazing to think that this was Big Show's first Superstars match since late 2010. Then again, it might not be too surprising since the show has gone downhill since then, but it was a rare treat to have Show make an appearance. It was even more special given that Show hasn't been in action on either of the main shows in a number of weeks. It was predictable from the start that this would be a squash in Show's favor, but O'Neil at least attempted to put up a fight, going down swinging in the process. This is the part where I rant about how O'Neil should be utilized better, but I hate to sound like a broken record so I won't. If nothing else, the bout was kept brief and was relatively painless (well, not for O'Neil). Jack Swagger def. Cody Rhodes This match looked good on paper given who was involved and it ultimately lived up to expectations. Both Rhodes and Swagger are great workers and they had an entertaining contest. It was no barn-burner of a bout, but they built to the finish nicely and I was happy that for once the match was given the amount of time that it should. Oftentimes the matches are kept short so the Raw recaps can run longer, but thankfully that wasn't the case here. The finishing sequence was fun and Rhodes losing again furthers the story that he just can't buy a win, meaning that his inevitable heel turn is definitely on the horizon. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Big E def. Bo Dallas in a "Win or Go Home" Match I thought it was a great touch to have Dallas' last NXT match against the same man he beat for the NXT Championship a year ago, and I got a kick out of how Dallas stated that he was undefeated against Big E. Speaking of whom, how WWE hasn't brought Big E's five count gimmick to the main roster is beyond me, as it is extremely over with the Full Sail University crowd. The match was decent enough but didn't get good until the final few minutes. I really loved how they used the turnbuckle spot like they did during their championship clash last year and I'm glad the commentators acknowledged it. It wasn't as hot of a match as I expected it to be, but it was a nice way for Dallas to go out. I thought the post-match antics by Dallas were cut short, but at least their showed what happened "during the break" afterward and it was absolutely hilarious. Divas Champion Paige def. Tamina Snuka (Non-title) I found this to be a better bout than their encounter at Extreme Rules, but that might have been because of the better crowd and how this match didn't serve as filler. Both Divas had impressive showings and they made the most out of the time they were given. It was more of a showcase for Paige than anything else since their feud hasn't been furthered at all on WWE TV, but it was a quality match from the ladies, nevertheless. |
