By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Vaudevillians def. T-Perkins and Matt Sugarman Matt Sugarman? The in-ring names for the local athletes just keep getting worse and worse. It was a pretty basic squash match, but The Vaudevillians managed to make it fun. As noted last week, they're a unique act and they're a welcome addition to the tag team division. It was a nice win for them, but here's hoping that them competing against nameless jobbers doesn't become the norm for them like it did for The Ascension. Bull Dempsey def. Xavier Woods It's nice to finally hear Woods' new entrance theme in its entirety. The "Somebody Call My Momma" song grew tiresome and I hope The Funkadactyls stop using it soon as well. It's a shame that Woods is still being utilized as an enhancement talent, but I was intrigued by the debut of Dempsey. He's been on NXT before but this was his first real introduction to the NXT Universe. The match went longer than it needed to, but he impresses me with his skills in the ring and on the mic. If booked correctly, he could be a real force to be reckoned with in NXT.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell def. The Beautiful People For someone who just gave birth, Terrell looks better than ever. How long until we see her tag up with Madison Rayne as Team MILFs? In all seriousness, this was a decent match by Knockouts standards that could have been given a few more minutes. It was formulaic for the most part, but the important thing is that there was a story behind it. I was surprised to see Kim get the pinfall pin instead of Terrell, but perhaps that leads to a title rematch between Angelina Love and Kim sometime in the near future. Eric Young Crashed Bobby Lashley's TNA World Heavyweight Championship Celebration; MVP Was Fired MVP's promo was pretty standard and straightforward, but I felt like I've heard it all before. I just despise any and all talking segments TNA does with the authority figures nowadays. Even still, it's good that MVP is doing all the talking for Lashley as champion. Young's interruption was logical as was Bobby Roode making the save. Young looked like a fool for hitting the ring against three guys while injured, but that's nitpicking things. Roode's promo was great and I hope he maintains that fire while babyface. Though I'm happy to see MVP removed from his post as the Director of Operations, it felt like it came out of nowhere, especially since the heel group was just gaining control of the entire company. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Seth Rollins, Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett and Jack Swagger def. Rob Van Dam, Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston Ziggler's pre-match promo atop the ladder was well done and it was nice to see him get a lengthy promo for the first time in a while. It (attempted to) give fans an incentive that Ziggler has a chance of winning on Sunday, but we all know he doesn't, sadly. Nevertheless, it was a good six-man tag team match, but I was hoping for something a little bit more from those involved. There wasn't anything necessarily wrong with it, but it was pretty formulaic and nothing notable for the most part, which was a shame. At least it did its job in hyping up the Money in the Bank Ladder match and giving the heels an extra edge going into the match. I was surprised Dean Ambrose didn't make an appearance given how he's in the match and his rival Rollins picked up the victory here. Bo Dallas def. Fandango It's well-documented that I couldn't care less for the love triangle involving Fandango, Layla and Summer Rae and I don't see why anyone else should care for it. It's between three heels that no one cared about to begin with and to top it all off, one of the heel's matches was against a heel! Talk about confusing. To make matters worse, this was the same exact thing we got on SmackDown last week, so I fail to see what purpose this was supposed to serve. I doubt Dallas got much out of this either aside from continuing his winning streak. By Greg Lowenthal Hey guys, I thought I would do my MITB (Money In The Bank) PPV predicitons early since I am going to be busy this week. (Heads up there will be no edition of the Lowdown for this week since I am doing the PPV predictions.) So here are my predictions for the ladder matches (since clearly they are the main spectacles of the PPV): I can't really make an accurate prediction since they are 7 men involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match. Each man has a 1 in 7 odds of becoming champion, but if the WWE sticks to the formula that has worked well for them in the past, expect either a Cena or Orton win to set the stage for the inevitable Brock Lesnar fight with the champion. |
