By Graham "GSM" Matthews Paul Heyman Interrupted WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena Coming off the biggest victory of his career over The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30, there is absolutely no way Cena can take Brock Lesnar lightly going into SummerSlam by cracking jokes. Thus, I'm happy Cena cut a straightforward, intense promo here, even showing fear of Lesnar at times. Heyman cut a very good promo per usual hyping up the accolades of Lesnar. Cesaro coming out seemed strange at first given how they just parted ways, but he made sense of it by saying he was coming to Heyman's aid as a friend. His "you can't wrestle" one-liner toward Cena was hysterical and his brief promo led nicely into their subsequent match. What a way to kick off the show. WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena def. Cesaro (Non-title) After their fantastic match earlier this year on Raw, I didn't expect anything less from Cena and Cesaro in this matchup. Once again, the action was awesome from start to finish due to the two having such great chemistry together. You knew going in that Cena was coming out victorious, but Cesaro looked so strong in defeat (literally and figuratively) that it didn't even matter. This was the best bout he's had in months (not counting his match with Dean Ambrose from last week's SmackDown) and it felt like nothing had changed from earlier this year. I hope this match opened the eyes of officials in that they start pushing him again.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
By Greg Lowenthal Hey guys, I'm taking this week's Lowdown to examine the Battleground PPV. So let's get started. The PPV overall had a nice flair for the dramatics and allowed for the WWE to help progress the "Authority" storyline to increase the overall progression of the current storylines. But, I honestly felt that Roman Reigns should have been the WWE World Heavyweight Champion because even though a Cena-Lesnar is what the fans really want, Reigns has proven over the past few months that he is indeed a championship-caliber superstar who honestly deserves a title bout of some type. By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos def. Rybaxel (Non-title) We've seen these two teams clash countless times in the past, but this was still a good matchup. Rybaxel looked like equals to The Usos throughout despite not being built up as threats beforehand. The only issue with this match was its finish. Why, after four years and while they're at their peak, would The Usos start doing the stupid "twin magic" trick now? It made even less sense because they're babyfaces. I hope this doesn't lead to The Usos turning heel or setting up a series of matches with Rybaxel. Both are terrible ideas. It's time to call up The Ascension to begin their feud with The Usos over the titles. Bo Dallas and Dolph Ziggler Crashed 'Miz TV' Miz continues to play his role extremely well and his interaction with Dallas was entertaining. His interview with his parents at ringside was a bit odd, but it was hilarious to see Miz's dad again for those that remember him from his last appearance back in September. Ziggler had a few good lines as well that subsequently led into his match with Dallas. It's encouraging to see a midcard rivalry get some talking time for once. |
