Roxanne Perez def. Cora Jade, Kiana James, Zoey Stark and Indi Hartwell in an NXT Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Iron Survivor Challenge MatchAll five women busted their ass here and did their best to make the first-ever Iron Survivor Challenge match. There weren't rapid pinfalls like we got in the men's, and there were definitely a few points where it wasn't overly interesting, but on the whole, they put together an enjoyable opener. Even James, who I haven't been high on in the past, held her own. Perez starting out and then winning the whole thing was the right call. She really needs to be the one to dethrone Mandy Rose as NXT Women's Champion, but I continue to fear it will be Nikkita Lyons.

Wes Lee def. Carmelo Hayes, Oro Mensah, Nathan Frazer and Von Wagner in a Fatal 5-Way Ladder Match to Win the NXT North American ChampionshipAs tired as I am of seeing Ladder matches in NXT (specifically over the NXT North American Championship), this was excellent as expected. There was a ton of talent involved and everyone had their time to shine. Okay, so Wagner stuck out like a sore thumb, but he had a passable performance. Lee winning made the most sense given the story they've told with him leading up to this event and it made for a memorable moment.
NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes def. RicochetIt's been three years since Ricochet last wrestled in an NXT ring and he has been missed, especially with the way he's been booked on the main roster. There was no reason to think he'd be taking the title with him to SmackDown, but he gave Hayes a hell of a fight and they had as entertaining of an outing as I thought there would be. Yes, it was mostly a spot-fest, but it was super fun and everything I hoped we'd get from these two. Hayes won clean but the roll-up protected the main roster star in defeat.
Tony D'Angelo, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Troy "Two Dimes" Donovan def. Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde)This match was made official this past Tuesday on NXT with the stipulation stating that the losing faction would have to work for whoever won. That added some stakes and made matters more interesting. This was actually a very enjoyable opener with a frantic pace and a hot crowd. Escobar recently beat D'Angelo on NXT, so D'Angelo's crew winning here made sense. The segments coming out of this with Legado working for D'Angelo and his boys have potential.
