Like any other legend, his appearance was exciting to see but left many, including myself, wondering if that was a one-night only deal or if he signed a new Legends contract with the WWE. Legends are always great to have around to a certain capacity. It’s okay for a legend to cut a promo, play a general manager role, or even wrestle a match occasionally, but never a good idea to have them wrestle on the regular basis.
A logical idea would be to give Flair the role of a manager to an upcoming Superstar, such as Dolph Ziggler or Brad Maddox. He could bring that sense of legitimacy to a rising star, such as he did with AJ Styles in TNA, without making a replica of himself. Similar to his acquaintances with Randy Orton and Batista as members of Evolution, Ric Flair’s managerial services will make the fans assume that those Superstars being managed have great potential.
Another thought could be to have Flair take up a general manager role over on the Raw brand. With Vickie Guerrero’s character beginning to age, and the lack of leadership on the flagship show, a smart move would be to have Flair as the general manager. Much like in 2002, Ric Flair could be in charge of booking matches and managing the roster, so to speak.
Many of the fans on internet say that Ric Flair was used better in one night with the WWE than how he was used during his entire TNA run. This goes to show that having legends be involved more with the weekly product than the younger talent does not produce good content. However, whenever Ric Flair is in the WWE, he is used wisely and to the greatest of his capabilities. It will be interesting to see how creative books “The Stylin`, profilin`, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin` n` dealin` son of a gun!” WOOOOOOOO!
