Pentagon Jr. def. Argenis
This was more of the same from Pentagon Jr. as he pretty much annihilated Argenis, but that's not to say it wasn't enjoyable, though. All of Argenis' squashes as of late have been a lot of fun to watch, but he didn't seem to be as aggressive this week as he has in the past. As I've note before, the crowd continues to cheer him despite his ruthlessness, so unless the commentators say otherwise, I'll assume he's a babyface. I'm ready for Pentagon to reveal who his "master" is and I hope that happens in the near future.
Angelico def. Ivelisse (Son of Havok as Special Guest Referee)
Obviously, this was more of an angle than it was an actual match, but the antics from everyone involved were entertaining. Personally, I'd rather see Ivelisse (and the rest of the women for that matter) be portrayed as equals to the men as they have in the past, but if the story is that Angelico is infatuated with Ivelisse then I'm content with it, as long as it doesn't become the norm. It's also refreshing to see Angelico developing a playboy persona of sorts as it gives him an identity
Johnny Mundo def. King Cuerno in a Steel Cage Match
I really like the way they've built this feud up in the last few months, warranting the need for a cage match. It was also the first cage match since Lucha Underground first started up in the fall, so it felt special. Both competitors delivered excellent performances and put together a hard-hitting, exciting contest. The entire match wasn't focused on big spots, but when they executed them (such as Mundo's crazy leap off the top at the end), they looked amazing. Mundo's win may put him into title contention and the fact that was mentioned on commentary following his big win was a nice touch.
The first two matches didn't do much for me, but they were still solid and furthered their respective stories. Meanwhile, the main event is more than worth going out of your way to see. There was also a quite of bit of hype for next week's Casket match between Mil Muertes and Fenix, making me look forward to it in the process. This wasn't one of their better episodes, but it was good on the whole and the hour flew by per usual.
