ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish def. Evil
I've said before how Fish just isn't doing it for me as TV Champion, and although he's a great wrestler, his matches are difficult to invest in because he's a borderline heel yet is still technically a babyface. Thankfully, he worked against a heel Evil in this match, so the dynamic was much better than usual. The match itself was quite good, though you knew the title was never in jepoardy considering this was taped months ago and Fish recently defended his title at All Star Extravaganza.
IWGP Intercontinental Champion Michael Elgin def. Donovan Dijak
Similar to the previous match, there wasn't much suspense surrounding the outcome considering Elgin isn't even IWGP Intercontinental Champion anymore as of now, but as a match, it was great. Elgin and Dijak are rare in that they're both big men yet their agility is incredible and they can move around like Cruiserweights. They had some awesome chemistry in this bout and Dijak once again had a solid showing in defeat. Will this guy ever win when it matters most?
The Bullet Club def. The Motor City Machine Guns, ACH and Lio Rish
It was virtually impossible for this to be anything less than an above-average match considering the amazing athleticism of the eight wrestlers involved and they didn't disappoint. There were a handful of (too) sweet spots and everyone worked well together. Although this was from the summer, it helps that everyone is buzzing about The Young Bucks and The Motor City Machine Guns this week coming off their phenomenal Ladder War at last Friday's pay-per-view. There wasn't anything too significant about this match, but it was a ton of fun from start to finish.
ROH had a fresh set of tapings on the Saturday after All Star Extravaganza, but it looks like those won't be airing for at least another two weeks. This entire episode consisted of matches taped at Field of Honor over the summer and next week will be the same. Sure, it's old news at this point, but from an in-ring standpoint, each of the three matches were enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the fallout from All Star Extravaganza and the direction the company goes in from here.
