Kenny King def. Adam PageHangman... er, Adam Page has been conspicuous by his absence on The Young Bucks' "Being the Elite" show on YouTube in recent weeks, and although he appeared here, I guess their excuse would be that this was taped a while ago. At any rate, this was a great opening match. I liked the story they told with King wanting to get revenge for The Bullet Club ruining his first shot at the ROH World Television Championship and he did just that. King has been an awesome breakout babyface and I would not at all be opposed to him taking the title from Kushida, especially considering the event will emanate from his hometown. Marty Scurll def. Rocky RomeroIt's been well-documented on ROH TV that Romero and Chuck Taylor aren't the best of friends (see what I did there?), but they both do have an association with Trent Barreta, so this match did make sense, which I appreciated. Not only that, but it was very fun while it lasted and Scurll's win gave him a bit of a momentum boost heading into Death Before Dishonor. He also busted out a new finishing move it looked like, and I always applaud anyone who adds more moves to their arsenal that they can beat opponents with. ROH World Champion Cody Unveiled the "Ring of Honor"I got my first look at the all-new official "Ring of Honor" during Cody's match with Rey Mysterio at a Northeast Wrestling show I attended last month (which you can view photos from here). It's actually a really clever gimmick and only adds to his act as Cody continues to shine as a heel. Granted, this did little to get me more excited about his upcoming title defense against Minoru Suzuki than I already was, but I expect that to be excellent, anyway. The Briscoes def. The KingdomThe Kingdom was represented by Vinny Marseglia and TK O'Ryan here, and Matt Taven was strangely nowhere to be found. These two teams have had quite the rivalry as of late and will be clashing again in a six-man tag team match at Death Before Dishonor, so this was a nice preview of that. The Briscoes have teased tension with Bully Ray (who fared well on commentary during this bout) recently, so it was important for them to win this match if the plan is for them to lose at the pay-per-view. The nearfalls down the stretch were suspenseful and it was an entertaining main event on the whole. Overall ShowI've said in the past how weak ROH's go-home shows for pay-per-views tend to be, but this was easily the strongest one I've seen in quite some time. All four matches on this edition of ROH TV served a purpose and built toward Death Before Dishonor, not to mention that many video packages and promos played in between the matches also hyped up the event. ROH rarely disappoints on pay-per-view, so I'm looking forward to what should be an above-average show on Friday night.
