When Graham texted me last week about the news that Roman Reigns was suspended I didn’t believe it. I was at work and jumped on the internet and saw the breaking news of the suspension. Initially I laughed just thinking of how mad Vince McMahon must have been when he found out that “The Guy” failed the WWE Wellness policy. This suspension was huge especially for the WWE since they are pushing Reigns to be the next top babyface of either Raw or SmackDown with the upcoming brand split.
When the reports came out that the WWE knew of the suspension before Money in the Bank I wasn’t surprised they had Reigns lose clean for the first time on the main roster. However, them keeping him in the main event for Battleground was very puzzling. Why would the WWE reward him after being suspended for a month by keeping him in the title match? It’s also odd that they would have “The Shield” Triple threat at Battleground of all PPVs. I’m assuming that with the upcoming WWE Draft that the three former Shield members will be drafted to different shows and it won’t happen soon.
Graham mentioned it in his random video blog to hold it at WrestleMania 33 with Rollins or Ambrose winning the Royal Rumble. They could have two winners and they both challenge Reigns at WrestleMania. I don’t even think this match needs a title because it’s such a money match for fans that watched The Shield since they formed in late 2012.
It will be interesting how they handle Reigns once his suspension is over and how they address what brand he is on. The WWE can’t just let this mistake slide especially with them punishing other talent over the years and stop pushing them. I’m not saying that they should fire Reigns but putting him back in the main event would show him that there are no consequences for his actions. The WWE should have him work back up through the mid card and then back to the main event scene. Proving a point to “The Guy” will show others that no one is untouchable.
