Prime Time Players def. Los Matadores
It's encouraging to see that the Players are continuing to get on-air time despite losing the WWE Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam. The New Day are obviously the hotter act right now, but the Players are still a talented team in their own right and deserve to be showcased. They put together a fun little match with the Matadores who, as I've said countless times before, are excellent athletes despite their atrocious gimmick. The Players were the right duo to pick up the win and hopefully they won't be completely overshadowed now that The Dudley Boyz are back in WWE.
Jack Swagger def. Adam Rose
This new "party pooper" character for Rose is lifeless and beyond dull, but it's better than nothing, I guess. People stopped caring about him a long time ago, so the win won't do anything to benefit Swagger. We've seen the match between them enough times that it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but thankfully it was kept relatively brief and it didn't overstay its welcome.
Stardust def. Fandango
Other than the events of SummerSlam, there was no mention made of Stardust's ongoing feud with Neville, so it will be interesting to see where he goes from here. As for the match, I enjoyed it while it lasted because while it was ultimately meaningless, it was well-wrestled and exhibited the skill-sets of both competitors nicely. Similar to Los Matadores, Fandango is another Superstar saddled with a terrible gimmick, yet he proved here he can go in the ring when that bell rings.
I expected a more noteworthy episode coming out of a hot SummerSlam weekend, but it was a very forgettable show with what was featured. The opening tag team match and the main event were decent, though they didn't serve much of a purpose and no storylines were progressed. The Swagger vs. Rose match was also a complete waste of time, so there's no need to go out of your way to watch Main Event this week.
