Rusev def. Jack Swagger
It's a good thing these two contest quality matches against each other because it's ridiculous to think how many times we've seen this match over the last year. This was another enjoyable outing between the two, but they've obviously had better bouts in the past. In fact, it just makes me sad watching them wrestle each other considering where they were on the card at this time last year. The ending outcome was never in doubt, but at least Rusev's pre-match promo helped hype his Night of Champions match with Dolph Ziggler that all of two people are looking forward to.
Bo Dallas def. Zack Ryder
I'm glad that WWE is being a little more consistent with Dallas' new aggressive attitude. Hopefully he doesn't go back to getting squashed anytime soon because he's on the right track. Beating enhancement guys is a step in the right direction, but he won't gain much momentum until he starts winning on Raw and SmackDown again. I don't have faith they'll go that far with him, but he deserves it.
The Lucha Dragons def. The Ascension
Say what you will about The Ascension being a boring tag team, but their best matches have come against The Lucha Dragons in NXT and they continue to work well together even on the main roster. It wasn't on the same level as their NXT Tag Team Championship match from that NXT live special a little over one year ago, but it was a fine outing for what it was that built toward the six-man tag team match also involving Neville and Stardust on the Night of Championship Kickoff show.
WWE tends to neglect Main Event the week before a pay-per-view more often than not, but this was an above-average episode. Granted, none of the matches were worth watching, but I was surprised that two of them actually had to do with the pending pay-per-view and they were half-decent. While Dallas vs. Ryder wasn't as important, but the right person went over, so it's an easy hour to digest if you have time to kill.
