#AskGSM Edition #63: WWE Royal Rumble Fallout, WrestleMania 31 Plans, Roman Reigns Backlash, More1/26/2015 By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Tyson Kidd and Cesaro def. The New Day (Kickoff Match) It was my understanding that Xavier Woods has been injured for quite some time, so if they knew that coming in, why would they bother advertising him in the six-man tag team match? I had zero desire to see yet another rematch between these two teams, but it was easily the best wrestled match they've have yet (and hopefully this is the end of the line for this feud). The Philadelphia crowd took a liking to Cesaro and Kidd and it was cool to see them score a win for once. I'd love to think this was to set them up as the latest challengers for The Usos, but it might have just been a one-off. The Ascension def. The New Age Outlaws The match itself was fine for what it was, but it was obvious the only thing worth noting about this match was the connection The New Age Outlaws had with the crowd. If they weren't as over as they were, this match would've fallen flat. However, the only purpose this bout served was putting over The Ascension and it succeeded in that respect. I don't know if it will do anything to help The Ascension going forward, but it will be disappointing if they go back to facing no-name tag teams after this. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Robbie E, Rockstar Spud, Austin Aries and Magnus Won Feast or Fired Briefcases The Feast or Fired concept is so illogical and tainted that it's hard to take seriously, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the match is usually entertaining. It can be a train wreck at times with so many competitors involved, but this actually better than expected with some cool spots from Aries, Spud and others. It didn't drag on and I liked the choice of winners because all of them have a realistic shot of getting fired/earning a title shot. Holding the match early on in the show was smart in keeping viewers in suspense for who will get what briefcase. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley def. Kenny King by Disqualification (Non-title) After teaming together for close to nine months, you would think that TNA would have waited on this matchup, or at least bothered to advertise it in advance. I realize King is now one of the lesser members of the Beat Down Clan, but he still has the most history with Lashley with MVP. Furthermore, the match ending in a non-finish isn't an excuse. Sure, it's better than Lashley being King straight up, but the match shouldn't have happened to begin with. If nothing else, it built to the street fight between Lashley and MVP later in the night. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Naomi def. Cameron These random matches never do anyone any favors, but the fact these two have history made it a bit more meaningful. They haven't feuded in forever, but at least their past issues added to the match. It was one of the better bouts these two have had, but still not great. At the very least, Naomi tried her best to carry Cameron to a passable match, so there was that. Naomi deserves so much better right now and I'm hoping she gets back into the Divas Championship picture before long. Fandango def. Sin Cara Oh great, a match involving two people no one could care less about right now. Is Sin Cara really the same guy who beat the Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett and faced him in a title match last week? And now he's losing to Fandango? This company really has no consistency, and it annoys me to no end. The match was fine for what it was, but the crowd was dead silent because they just wanted it to be over with like the rest of us. |
