By Graham "GSM" Matthews ROH World Television Champion Tomohiro Ishii def. Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish in a Triple Threat Match I was completely unaware that Ishii had won the TV title until he came out wearing the belt. Strong was champion as of Wednesday's edition of ROH TV, and while I realize that was taped earlier in the month, I was slightly surprised they went with the title change knowing they already had weeks of TV in the can with Strong as champ. That might have messed with my enjoyment of the bout just a bit, but the Triple Threat wasn't anything special anyway, or at least not as special as it could have been given the combatants. Perhaps they could have benefited from more time, but nothing about the match stood out to me after watching it. BJ Whitmer def. Adam Page It's quickly becoming clear to me that Whitmer attracts the wrong kind of heat as a heel. The crowd crapped all over this match and not in a way where they wanted to see Whitmer get his ass handed to him. They simply didn't care. They got behind Page whenever he took a risk, but that was about it. As a result, I sat on my hands for the match (watching from my laptop, of course). ROH made an effort to make casual viewers care about the feud in recent weeks, but to no avail. The real rivalry is between Whitmer and Steve Corino, but even that feels played out by this point.

By RJ Marceau I was a casual viewer of Lucha Underground Season 1 but it wasn’t till the recent season of Lucha Underground that I have become a weekly viewer of the show. So far in Season 2 there have been five episodes and if you aren’t watching I would definitely recommend the product especially since it’s only a one hour show. I don’t have the El Rey Network here at school but you can access the show online. At first I will admit it was hard to get invested in a product of people I didn’t really know. Over the first five episodes I have started connecting with the program and in this article I will reveal my Top 3 Favorite Lucha Underground Wrestlers. By Jared "JJF" Jackson-Ferrans Every so often, there comes a talent with the ring ability and x factor to be a high level star, that the WWE just doesn't use correctly. These are the analysations of those talents. Welcome to Missed Connections. Coming from Ring of Honor has always been a bit of a security blanket in the WWE that you could, at least, be a serviceable midcarder in the WWE. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins and Mickie James, aka the former Alexis Laree, all ascended as high as they could go in the company, and Cesaro, Evan Bourne and Kevin Owens have at least proven that a good midcard career was likely if you didn't have attitude problems. This means good things so far for the recent acquisitions such as AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Austin Aries. With that said, the very first Ring of Honor star that made it to WWE was, in fact, used poorly, and the WWE lost out on a man that possessed the skills to be much more than he was. With that, here is his file. By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H Addressed Roman Reigns Was it just me or did this sound almost identical to a Triple H promo from 2002? I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I found it interesting. If that's the case, why not have him come out in his jacket and jeans with "The Game" music and not as Authority Triple H? The small things make the biggest differences. That aside, his response to Reigns from this past week regarding his "broken nose" was well done. Usually, I dislike it when talking segments start SmackDown, but Triple H is a big enough name that it was a good get for the show, similar to Brock Lesnar last week. I'm in the minority that's actually excited about HHH vs. Reigns at WrestleMania. We'll see if WWE does anything to try to change the minds of those that aren't as amped about in the weeks to come. League of Nations def. Neville, Dolph Ziggler and The Lucha Dragons These multi-man matches pitting Neville, Ziggler and The Lucha Dragons against League of Nations in recent weeks have been fun, but I'm still scratching my head as far as what purpose they are supposed to serve. They've been trading wins back and forth, so it's not like League of Nations are building strong momentum. I remain indifferent toward them and an apparent program with The New Day doesn't do anything for me, personally. On a side note, I was happy to see Barrett back in action after a two month layoff due to injury. He got fairly physical in this contest, so it wasn't as if he was protected by his partners. |
