By Graham "GSM" Matthews Damien Sandow def. Kofi Kingston (Kickoff Match) I give props to WWE for pulling together this match at the last minute with Curtis Axel coming down with an injury. Sure, it wasn't a barn burner of a bout, but it was probably better than what we would have gotten out of Axel and Big E Langston. It was a nice match while it lasted that saw the right person go over. It was essentially something you would see on WWE Main Event and did nothing to convince fans to purchase the pay-per-view, but again, this match wasn't even supposed to take place in the first place. WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust def. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns and The Usos in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match I knew this match was going to be great going in, but I never expected it to be as awesome as it ended up being. All three of these tandems have had excellent matches with each other in the past, but those paled in comparison to this gem of matchup. The action was slow early on, but they picked up the pace down the stretch and delivered on all cylinders. The live crowd was hot for the contest and everyone involved was able to their signature spots. The finish was very well done and it was a nice win for the Rhodes brothers. They have been breathing new life into the tag team division as of late and I looked forward to seeing who will challenge them next. This was a fantastic opener for the show and undoubtedly the match of the night.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Michael Cole Interviewed Triple H As much as I enjoy the weekly interviews between Cole and HHH on WWE.com, I couldn't find myself invested in this segment. It might have been due to it being in a different setting, but the content was nothing out of the ordinary and HHH didn't say anything that we didn't already know. Daniel Bryan interrupting the segment was well done and he cut a good promo, but it should have been longer considering he nor Orton didn't receive any more mic time for the rest of the show. The Usos def. Luke Harper and Erik Rowan I expected more of a match between these two teams considering it was their first ever outing against each other. They made the most out of the time they were given, but it is possible they were saving the bout for later down the line where it could develop into a real feud. The Miz attacking Bray Wyatt at ringside gave Harper and Rowan an out for losing while the win gave The Usos momentum going into their tag team title match on Sunday. By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles Confronted Dixie Carter; Mr. Anderson Returned to Attack Bully Ray Carter still has some work to do as far as her mic skills are concerned, but it was hard not to laugh during her opening promo with Styles. The over-the-top heel antics from her were comical, and I am not sure if that was intentional or not. Either way, Ray was excellent as usual and Anderson's return was a pleasant surprise that the live crowd was hot for (hell, they were hot for almost everything on this show). I could have waited another week to hear Anderson cut his first promo in a while, and him giving into the security guards was odd. Evidently, this wouldn't be the last time we would see him in this show, so I was impressed with his return as a whole and all signs point to him feuding with Ray going forward. I didn't mind the opening segment going so long as it brought back memories of the post-Bound For Glory show from 2011 that ran nearly 45 minutes, so I am least appreciative that this wasn't much of the same. Knockouts Champion Gail Kim and Brooke def. ODB and Velvet Sky Was anyone else laughing at the fact that everyone involved in this match (including Lei'd Tapa at ringside) make up for the entire Knockouts division? Anyway, the match was disappointing since it was only mere minutes long, but it was successful in furthering the feud between Kim and ODB without having ODB take the pin-fall loss. It was odd not to see tension teased between Kim, Tapa and Brooke considering it was Tapa who cost Brooke the Knockouts Championship at Bound For Glory. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Sasha Banks def. Emma Now that she is a full-fledged heel (and has been for quite some time now), it is good to see Banks adopt a new look and new entrance music to go along with new attitude. The match was good by Divas standards and involved two women who can flat out go in the ring. I was pleasantly surprised how much time they ended up getting and Banks winning was fine by me since she is in the midst of a push. This was a logical way of furthering the feud involving Banks, Emma, Paige and Summer Rae. The tension teased between Emma and Paige was intriguing and it should lead to something sooner rather than later since the commentators made mention of the fact that Emma is still due for a shot at the Women's Championship. NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension def. Casey Maron and Tommy Taylor (Non-title) This was your basic squash match that was over within mere minutes. This would have been acceptable six months ago, but not now when The Ascension are already the tag team champions. With Adrian Neville and Corey Graves splitting up, I realize there is now a void that needs to be filled in the tag team division, but there has to be some sort of tandem that can step up to rival The Ascension. I was hoping for them to rush into their next feud on this show, but it wasn't meant to be, unfortunately. |
