By RJ Marceau This year has been great as a fan of the UFC and as a new avid fan it has been a year full of new champions, big fights and great rivalries. We have seen seven new champions, two of the biggest fights in UFC history between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor and the scandal of Jon Jones. The UFC has three big shows left in 2016 with UFC 205, 206 and 207 with a few UFC Fight Nights in between. I will analyze the big fights on each card and might rant a little bit.

RJ’s Two Cents - Predicting the 1st and 2nd Rounds of the Annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic10/7/2016 By RJ Marceau Last year, NXT introduced the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which was a huge success. An annual tournament to honor Dusty Rhodes is great. The best part of this tournament in my mind is how they are taking random superstars and pairing them together. Obviously they have formed teams such as TM-61, Authors of Pain, The Revival and Gargano & Ciampa but most the other teams are interesting. I know they have had a few tapings but I haven’t seen any spoilers. I will go match by match in these predictions. By RJ Marceau Before I get into the predictions I just want to say that I have definitely been a bigger fan of SmackDown over Raw since the brand split. The two hour time frame definitely helps especially when they focus on actual feuds instead of squash matches. After these two tournaments SmackDown may be similar to Raw but I am not going to complain about it right now. UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez (Exclusively on UFC Fight Pass)UFC Lightweight Championship (155 pounds): © Rafael Dos Anjos vs Eddie AlvarezThe UFC 200 weekend starts tonight with UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos vs. #2 Eddie Alvarez. Alvarez has been able to bounce back from his UFC debut loss to Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone by two wins via split decision over former UFC lightweight champion, Anthony "Showtime" Pettis and former Strikeforce lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez.
On the flip side of that Rafael Dos Anjos has been the most dominant UFC Lightweight champion since I became a fan back in 2009. Dos Anjos is very adaptable to his opponents and you can see that in his last few fights. He stopped the former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson "Smooth" Henderson in the 1st round, he focused on Nate Diaz's front leg and took away his incredible boxing, he mauled Anthony "Showtime" Pettis to win the UFC Lightweight title and he recently stopped Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in the first round in his first UFC Lightweight title defense. |
