RJ’s Two Cents - Why Braun Strowman Needs to Win the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 20178/17/2017 By RJ Marceau This year’s SummerSlam card doesn’t have the same pop that the past installments have due to the lack of exciting matchups. The past shows has featured Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton, The Undertaker, and John Cena. I don’t hate that but people wanted to see Brock face younger, developing stars. This year he will face three guys that he has only encountered twice.
Brock Lesnar faced Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 in a match that wasn’t hyped to be that good but they contested a good match even before Seth Rollins had cashed in. Last month, Brock faced Samoa Joe at Great Balls of Fire in another good contest so on paper this match should be good. When it comes down to this match and who will or should win I have only one name for you: Braun Strowman. I know some people feel like Samoa Joe should or will win but no one has been more must-see in 2017 than Strowman. Raw was average at best when Strowman was out with his elbow injury but has been must-see since his return.

By RJ Marceau Going into Sunday night, I had little expectations for the show because the build was lousy and none of the matches were must-see. SmackDown since the Superstar Shake-up has been worse and I think that is what has affected the show quality and the pay-per-views in general.
The show started with a great tag team match between The New Day and The Usos. This match was good start to finish with great nearfalls at the end. I was surprised they did the title change here but I expect a rematch at SummerSlam with a stipulation. These teams have great chemistry and started the night off with a bang.

I am back on NextEraWrestling.com. My hiatus was about 3 months but with the return of Braun Strowman I needed to come back. Raw and SmackDown respectively have had their handful of good and bad shows but with Raw I had little interest when Braun Strowman left with an injury. Braun was causing havoc and made Raw must-watch to see who he attacked next. Braun suffered an elbow injury in early May and was reported to be out for six months. I was pissed because Braun seemed like he was going to get a main event push and face Brock Lesnar for the title.
When Braun returned I was ecstatic. The whole execution was done well with him coming back “four months early” and destroying his nemesis Roman Reigns. The Ambulance stipulation for Great Balls of Fire is perfect because the narrative this whole time has dealt with the Ambulance which “caused” Braun’s injury. It also protects whoever loses because they won't get pinned or submitted. Even though it technically protects either guy Braun needs to win. By RJ Marceau A week late but I was so busy at work post WrestleMania I didn’t have time to write about my experience. I went to NXT TakeOver: Orlando which was a good show. I didn’t agree with a few of the finishes like Asuka retaining but the show met my expectations so I can’t complain.
We went to Disney from 9-2 and went straight to WrestleMania. The gates opened at 3:30. Our seats were on the floor which I was excited for but they had one of the pillars in the way. I tried to get relocated but the usher didn’t help at all. We sucked it up but it ticked me off that after the show I looked on Twitter and if you went to the box office they relocated people but now I know for the future. Our seats were right near the stage so we had a great view of the stage and just watched the matches to the best of our ability or watched on the screens. |
