In this mini-series, I will take a look at the history of Daniel Bryan.
Part 1: Training
On May 22, 1981, Bryan Danielson was born in Aberdeen, Washington. After he graduated from Aberdeen-Weatherwax High School in 1999, he pursued his dreams of becoming a professional wrestler. Danielson attended the Texas Wrestling Academy where he was trained by Shawn Michaels and Rudy Gonzalez.
On March 21, 2000, he won his first professional wrestling championship when he teamed with Spanky (Brian Kendrick) to win the TWA Tag Team Championship by defeating Jeromy Sage and Ruben Cruz.
In 2001, Bryan was signed to a developmental deal with WWF. While he was there, he trained with William Regal, and won the MCW Light Heavyweight and the MCW Tag Team Championships in Memphis. Danielson made television appearances on Velocity and Heat as enhancement talent. He even lost to John Cena at that time.
Bryan then went on to tour Japan with the promotion, and he often used his American Dragon moniker while supporting a mask. In one of his last feuds, he teamed with Curry Man (Christopher Daniels) to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.
