Trios Champions Killshot, The Mack and Son of Havoc def. Big Bad Steve, Sammy Guevara and JAke StrongFamous B noted that his clients Texano and Dr. Wagner Jr. were off "making him money," so they were replaced in this match with Steve, Guevara and Strong (f.k.a. Jack Swagger). This was your typical trios matchup in that it was highly enjoyable and had solid showings from all involved. There was never a dull moment and the champs retained their titles as they should have. Post-match, Strong laid out his partners, so I'm glad he's being made to look good from the get-go. Dragon Azteva Jr. def. Drago for an Ancient Aztec MedallionBefore the bout, Antonio Cueto announced that the Gift of the Gods Championship match is making its return soon and thus the quest for the ancient Aztec medallions is on, starting with this contest. Drago remains under Kobra Moon's control. He and Azteca had a good matchup here and it was a fun sprint for the time they were given. Afterward, Johnny Mundo and Taya targeted Moon and Drago, seemingly starting a feud between them. Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark def. Matanza CuetoThe story here was that they have faced off twice before and Matanza won on both occasions, so Pentagon was coming into this championship clash as the underdog. Matanza is one of the most agile big men we have seen in a long time and he has terrific chemistry with Pentagon. This was a great main event with plenty of suspense, drama, an invested crowd, and the perfect finish with Pentagon finally overcoming the monster. Two weeks into the fourth season and Pentagon is already looking like a strong champion, but I am curious who his first full-fledged feud will be against. Overall ShowThis edition of Lucha Underground had a nice mix of a little bit of everything with an entertaining opener, a well-wrestled match that had Gift of the Gods implications, and an excellent championship main event. The hour of Lucha Underground tends to fly back and this was no exception. The introduction of a few new faces helped as well. Next week's first-ever three-way Grave Consequences match with Mil Muertes, Fenix and Jeremiah Crane should be a spectacle.
