Matanza Cueto def. Taya by Disqualfiication
Taya was still upset at Matanza for ruining her wedding a while ago, so this was her chance to exact some revenge. She scored more offense than most of Matanza's past opponents, but Matanza still dominated in the end. It was a decent match with the non-finish making sense in order to protect Taya (and prevent her from getting sacrificed to the gods) and set up Matanza vs. Johnny Mundo for Ultima Lucha 4.
Mil Muertes and Fenix def. The Mack and Dragon Azteca jr.
Muertes vs. Mack and Fenix vs. Azteca Jr. are already confirmed for Ultima Lucha 4, so this match essentially served to hype both bouts. It was very entertaining from an in-ring standpoint with all four guys holding their own and having their time to shine. Muertes and Fenix were definitely an odd tandem considering their history together, but it was smart to have them go over here.
Ricky Mundo def. Famous B
For some strange reason, Famous B decided to come out of retirement on this show. Well, he isn't exactly off to the strongest start with a loss to Ricky Mundo of all people. Then again, Mundo is more aggressive and unhinged than he's ever been, and after putting away Famous B in what was a throwaway match, he made it known to everyone that he was the one who unleashed Mantanza on the Johnny Mundo and Taya wedding. I'm interested to see how Johnny and Taya take that news.
Pentagon Dark def. Reklusa
I typically don't mind the intergender matches, but the man on woman violence here was a bit too much to stomach at times. The crowd ate up everything they did, mind you, but it was still over-the-top. On the bright side, this was the best Chelsea Green match I've ever seen and she showed off her in-ring skills for once without really having to rely on character stuff. She more than held her own against Pentagon and looked great in defeat. The post-match stuff was also well done and effectively hyped up Pentagon vs. Marty "The Moth" Martinez.
Ultima Lucha 4 is rapidly approaching and Lucha Underground is doing an excellent job of getting me excited for what's on tap by building up every advertised match. They also continue to deliver above-average in-ring action with this episode being a prime example. The main event may not be for everyone, but I found it to be entertaining on the whole, and the tag team matchup is worth checking out as well.
