Matanza Cueto def. Jack Evans
After the many losses he has suffered this season, Evans decided to call it quits here and announce his departure from Lucha Underground... only to be interrupted by Antonio Cueto, who said he'd be able to leave once he faced Matanza. Evans gave him more of a fight than most, but the outcome was still the same. I believe this marked Evans' final appearance on the show, thus explaining him being sacrificed to the gods.
Trios Champions The Reptile Tribe def. Joey Ryan, XO Lishus and Ivelisse
Ryan, Lishus and Ivelisse are such an oddball trio yet they're a lot of fun together. They had an enjoyable, well-wrestled match with The Reptile Tribe, but even their strong showing wasn't enough to earn them the victory and titles. Afterward, Paul London introduced his two new partners, The White Rabbit and El Bunny (who I assume is Mascarita Sagrada in new attire), and attacked the babfaces, so that appears to be a new feud.
Jake Strong def. Drago and Aerostar in a 2-on-1 Nunchucks Handicap Match
I never thought a Handicap match involving the former Jack Swagger would be so fun. The added stipulation with the nunchucks was a blast and made this infinitely more interesting. Drago and Aerostar brought the best out of Strong, who had his most memorable matchup in Lucha Underground to date here. Strong winning was predictable, but at least Drago and Aerostar scored a lot of offense before being beaten.
Pentagon Dark def. Mil Muertes, King Cuerno and Dragon Azteca Jr. in a Lucha Underground Championship No. 1 Contender's Four-Way Match
With so much talent in one matchup, I expected this to be an amazing main event, and while it was very entertaining while it lasted, it should have lasted way longer than it did. It barely went 10 minutes, but at least all four guys had their time to shine and the in-ring action was excellent. Fenix and Dragon Azteca Jr. brawled out of the arena, allowing Pentagon to dispose of Muertes and Cuerno and punch his ticket to Ultima Lucha for the Lucha Underground title against Marty "The Moth" Martinez. We also learned afterward that Muertes will face The Mack at Ultima Lucha 4 in a Death match.
I wasn't sure what would top last week's extremely newsworthy episode, but this edition managed to maintain that momentum quite nicely. Jack Evans is no more after being killed off by Matanza, Strong continued his dominance, the Trios titles were successfully defended, a new trio debuted, and two matches were made official for Ultima Lucha 4. All in all, this was a solid show.
