David Marquez Interviewed Marty Scurll and Brody KingThis was a short and sweet promo from both men addressing Strictly Business and setting the stage for the main event as well as what was to come at Crockett Cup. Unfortunately, Scurll challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship won't be happening any time soon, nor will the Crockett Cup tournament itself. I liked how they referenced last year's event here as well. Kamille def. Madi MaxxThis marked Kamille's in-ring debut for the NWA. I don't know of any other matches she's had professionally, which is surprising considering how good she looked here. She completely dominated Maxx, and while there is of course room for improvement, she didn't give off the vibe that she was "green." She was seemingly being set up for a shot at Thunder Rosa's NWA World Women's Championship before the shows were put on hold, so I'm looking forward to that when it eventually happens. The Rock 'N' Roll Express def. NWA National Champion Aron Stevens and The Question MarkBoth teams for a jockeying for a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Championship. The outcome was a foregone conclusion once Trevor Murdoch showed up at ringside, but it was a nice little outing, nonetheless. I can see some fans having an issue with The Rock 'N' Roll Express continuing to win matches at their age, but it was only because of the distraction from Murdoch at ringside. The Murdoch vs. Stevens feud was furthered and The Rock 'N' Roll Express established Melina, Allysin Kay and NWA World Women's Champion Thunder Rosa Interrupted Each OtherThe NWA World Women's Championship picture is getting really interesting. Melina and Rosa are teasing more and more tension with every episode that passes and Kay is still firmly in the hunt as well. Melina badly wants that match with Rosa (even though she backed out of it a while ago), but I assume we'll be getting a three-way first. All the promos in this segment were solid and looked to plant the seeds for that three-way at Crockett Cup. Tim Storm def. Jax Dane in a No Disqualification MatchI completely forgot about the issues that Storm had with Dane and Danny Deals the last time Powerrr aired in its entirety. No Disqualification matches are a rarity in the NWA, so I liked how they took their fight around the arena. It wasn't terribly exciting at certain points, but I appreciated the effort and the crowd was into it due to Storm being as over as he is. As a result of Storm's win, he was able to get five minutes in the ring with Deals, who he pummeled with ease. Please let this be over so Storm can refocus on more serious matters like getting back at Strictly Business. Tasha Steelz def. Marti Belle and Ashley Vox in a Three-Way MAtchI don't remember these three women have any real beef with each other, so I assume this was designed to be a showcase for them as opposed to a grudge match. The action was entertaining and they kept the pace consistent throughout. I'm actually surprised they were given five minutes, but at least they made those minutes matter. I don't think we've seen Steelz win many matches in the NWA, so this was a smart way of establishing her as credible. David Marquez Interviewed Eddie Kingston and NWA World Tag Team Champions Eli Drake and James StormI wasn't sold on Drake and Storm as a team initially, just because they have high ceilings as singles stars, but they have quickly proven me wrong with how amazing their chemistry is together. This was an absolute blast from start to finish and having Kingston there to fill in the blanks and help tell their story was a nice touch. They took shots at the Ring of Honor roster and did a hell of a job of hyping up the Crockett Cup. This was yet another instance where I was disappointed afterward due to not knowing when we'll actually be able to get the pay-per-view. Strictly Business (NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis & Thomas Latimer) def. Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll & Brody King)As effective as this was in progressing the storyline between Strictly Business and Villain Enterprises (and specifically Scurll vs. Aldis), it made me sad thinking about how it's likely going to be a long time until we see them collide for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. As a main event, however, this was very good. Everyone had strong showings and the heels going over was the right call. Scull vs. Aldis, whenever it does happen, should be something special. Overall ShowNWA taped this special edition of Powerrr months ago but decided to hold off on airing it, simply because there was no word on when Crockett Cup would be happening. At this point, it doesn't look like NWA will be returning to regular shows any time soon, but Billy Corgan did announce at the end of the episode that a new show called Carnyland will be debuting next week. What it entails, I have no idea, but I'm looking forward to finding out. Nevertheless, it was great to have Powerrr back, if only for one night. The promo work and wrestling was highly enjoyable on the whole and the hype for Crockett Cup was well done, even though it's irrelevant at the moment.
