Marty Scurll def. Beer City Bruiser
It made sense to give Scurll a showcase match ahead of his upcoming clash with Jay Lethal at Final Battle, but why Beer City Bruiser? The guy is fine in the ring, but Scurll could have had a better bout with just about anyone else on the roster. Are they in the process of turning Scull babyface, and possibly Lethal heel? I guess we'll find out at the pay-per-view, but this was a nice win for Scurll, nonetheless.
Caprice Coleman Hosted Coleman's Pulpit with Himself
Coleman basically pretended to talk to himself for a few minutes, and I didn't think I would be as entertained by it as I was. Seriously, Coleman getting his own talk show segment has easily been the best thing to ever happen to him. This was designed to hype up his pending shot at the ROH World Television Championship against Kenny King, which will take place at an ROH live event and I believe will air on next week's edition of ROH TV.
ROH World Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns def. The Kingdom
I didn't think we would get to see this on ROH TV considering it took place at a live event, so it was pretty cool the footage aired, anyway. The Kingdom have been building momentum as of late, but I didn't think they would win the tag titles so close to Final Battle. Despite that, this was an enjoyable affair and the two teams worked well together. Will TK O'Ryan accidentally attacking Vinny Marseglia lead to tension between within The Kingdom? I hope not.
Flip Gordan def. Adam Page
Gordan was a weird choice to put in the main event on ROH TV (for the second straight week, too), but I was totally in favor of it because he's a fresh face and a star on the rise. Plus, he's getting a shot at the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship at Final Battle, so this match made sense. Page isn't your typical high-flier like Gordan, but his offense in this matchup was crazy to see. This was an exciting main event for as long as it lasted and gave me a reason to care about the aforementioned title match.
The build to Final Battle continues to be super strong and the card is shaping up to be very promising. Sadly, I may not be in attendance for the event after all as I recently found out I might have to work that night, but I have fingers crossed I can find a way to make it there. Regardless, the in-ring action on this show was exceptional, and combined with Coleman's Pulpit and the well done video package on Dalton Castle, this was a great show.
