reDRAGON def. Donovan Dijak and J Diesel
This was a strong start to the show considering Kyle O'Riley and Bobby Fish will be involved in the top two matches on Friday's pay-per-view. Dijak and Diesel haven't been established as anything more than Jay Lethal's whipping boys in recent months, but they're both excellent athletes and produced a good tag team matchup with the former tag champs. The ending outcome was never in doubt, but it served as an entertaining opener and furthered the momentum of the babyface challengers before the event.
Cedric Alexander def. Dalton Castle
I think Castle might be tied with The New Day as one of my favorite acts in all of wrestling right now. He knows his character so well and he's beloved by the crowd. Alexander and Castle don't have any established issues with each other as far as I know, but this match being as competitive as it was felt refreshing for a go-home show. It was more focused on Castle's feud with Silas Young with Young on commentary for the bout, but they did a nice job of furthering the feud between Alexander and Moose by having Moose come out afterward. Plus, Castle was protected in defeat by holding the tights.
War Machine def. The Kingdom
For as long as I've been watching Ring of Honor, War Machine have come off as a dominant tag team that always fall short of victory. While they finally picked up a win here, I question why it came at the expense of The Kingdom, who will be challenging for the ROH World Tag Team Championship on Friday's pay-per-view. Unless War Machine is being added to the match (and I don't believe they are), that felt counterproductive. Nevertheless, this was a fun tag main event that made me excited to see the three-way tag title match between The Kingdom, The Young Bucks and The Addiction.
While I would have closed the show with the opening tag team match instead of War Machine vs. The Kingdom, this was still a solid show. All three matches were effective in building toward the pay-per-view and each of them were very well-wrestled, making for another enjoyable hour of television. I was on the fence about watching the event before this show, but this episode convinced me to check it out with the card on tap and the potential it has to be great.
