Josh "The Goods" Woods def. QT Marshall
It was a while ago so my memory might be a bit clouded, but I believe Marshall paid off Shane Taylor to attack Marshall not too long ago. I thought that turned Woods babyface, but there was no indication as to whether he was a babyface or a heel here. Nevertheless, this was a good match and an even more impressive outing from Woods. He seems to get better every time I see him in action, so with a steady push and more experience, he can be a star for Ring of Honor in time.
Caprice Coleman Hosted Coleman's Pulpit with Mark Briscoe
Coleman's Pulpit is basically ROH's version of Miz TV, it's just not taped in front of a live audience. That said, it's a great platform for the wrestlers to further their storylines and receive some extended promo time, so I enjoyed this segment with Coleman and Briscoe. It's no secret that The Briscoes and Bully Ray have been teasing tension as of late, so this only added fuel to the fire.
Frankie Kazarian Won the 2017 Honor Rumble For a Future ROH World Championship Match
For those unfamiliar with the Honor Rumble, it's ROH's Royal Rumble, only with 20 men and not nearly as big of a deal. In fact, I've been tuning into ROH for two years now and this is the first one I've seen on TV. Given this was taped prior to the pay-per-view, it was hardly surprising that most of this match was largely forgettable. Hell, Glacier making an appearance and the crowd popping huge for him was the best part of the bout! At the very least, the final four with Bully Ray, Flip Gordan, Jay Lethal and Kazarian was well done and it sets up Kazarian as Cody's next world title challenger. It didn't excite me at first, but upon remembering that Cody beat Kazarian's partner Christopher Daniels for the belt in the first place, there's a story worth telling there.
Of course, this was taped before Death Before Dishonor took place last Friday, so there was no fallout from the event. On the bright side, the Honor Rumble was meaningful as it guaranteed the winner a title shot on next week's show. It wasn't exactly must-see TV, but it was fun at certain points and especially toward the end. Woods vs. Marshall was decent and Coleman's Pulpit served a purpose, so this was a solid show all things considered.
