Akira Tozawa def. The Brian Kendrick
Personally, I have thoroughly enjoyed this feud and thought this match was a bit better than their previous encounter a week ago. They weren't given a ton of time, mind you, but they made the most of what they were allotted. Tozawa winning this match was absolutely necessary considering Kendrick has gotten the better of him more often than not during their program, so this was smart booking. Tozawa has crazy charisma and I hope it isn't long before he enters the WWE Cruiserweight Championship picture.
Rich Swann def. Oney Lorcan
Lorcan has appeared on the main roster at least once before for a match against Kalisto on SmackDown Live late last year, so I'm very interested as to whether this was merely a one-off for him or an official call-up. If the latter, he would be an excellent addition to the roster. Sure, he came up short in his 205 Live debut, but he looked good in defeat and had a fairly competitive contest with Swann. Also, is he a heel or a face? I haven't quite figured that out yet.
A WWE United Kingdom Championship Championship Show Was Announced
It seems that with all the buzz surrounding WrestleMania week and everything coming out of it, this announcement was lost in the shuffle. Then again, a program focusing on the United Kingdom Championship competitors has been rumored for months, so it shouldn't have come as any surprise. I'm not sure if adding another wrestling show to the WWE Network will do much good to boost the subscriber count, but I'm a fan of the five talent that have under contract, so we'll see who else they sign from the tournament.
Austin Aries def. TJ Perkins, Jack Gallagher and Mustafa Ali in a WWE Cruiserweight Championship No. 1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way Match
The last two No. 1 Contender Fatal 5-Way elimination matches were entertaining from an in-ring standpoint, but it was never explained what the competitors did to earn their place in the match. We had a similar situation with this bout where it was four random Cruiserweights vying for a shot at the strap. That said, it was a pretty good match with the right winner, and I'm sure Neville and Aries are capable of contesting an even better bout than they did at WrestleMania 33.
If you were expecting the rowdy post-WrestleMania crowd to stick around for 205 Live, you were likely disappointed. In their defense, they were probably just as exhausted as we all are from WrestleMania weekend. This audience wasn't any different from your typical 205 Live crowd, but the show itself was solid. All three matches were well-wrestled, Aries was confirmed to challenge Neville for the Cruiserweight title again, and the United Kingdom guys appeared, so this edition receives a thumbs up from me.
