Akira Tozawa def. Gentleman Jack Gallagher
I was curious why this match pitted two babyfaces against each other with the crowd not having a clear incentive to cheer for one over the other, but the ending made sense of things. As for the outing itself, I enjoyed it and thought they worked well together. It will likely be forgotten about by next week, but it served its purpose in keeping Tozawa on the right track and teasing something with The Brian Kendrick, who aided Tozawa to victory unbeknownst to Tozawa.
Kalisto, Lince Dorado and Humberto Carrillo def. Ariya Daivari and The Singh Brothers
Gran Metalik was mysteriously attacked backstage earlier in the evening, which led to Carrillo taking his place. Dorado and Carrillo wrestled to a double count-out last week, so it was logical for them to not completely be on the same page here and tease tension toward the end. Dorado showed signs of turning heel after what Daivari said to him last week, so I'm interested to see where that leads. I was going to say that Daivari and the Singhs would make for a good little stable, but Daivari ditched them here, so that's obviously not happening.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak def. Oney Lorcan
In storyline, I don't think Lorcan did anything to earn a rematch for the title, but I can't complain about these guys going at it again. Their SummerSlam match didn't particularly impress me as it felt like they were holding back a bit, so I super appreciated that they were allowed to go all out here and deliver the barn burner we all knew they were capable of. I would have loved to see it last longer than it did, but I enjoyed the hell out of it, nonetheless. They worked a perfect pace and I liked the story they told with Lorcan passing out to Gulak's finisher and not submitting, which made him look better in defeat.
The hangover crowd from SummerSlam weekend honestly wasn't any hotter than your typical 205 Live crowd, but despite their silence, I still enjoyed this episode. The main event was excellent and worth checking out while the other two matches were well wrestled and furthered two different storylines. It was a simple show and slightly longer than usual (and I don't say that as a bad thing).
