Kalisto and Gran Metalik def. The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher by Disqualification
Nothing exciting has come out of this rivalry yet, but it has been well-booked thus far with a string of solid matches. Unfortunately, the live crowds have not been following this feud as closely as I have, and thus they have been flat for each of the encounters. This match was no exception to that, despite the good effort from all four men. The non-finish keeps the program alive as well as puts heat back on the heels.
Hideo Itami def. Colin Delaney
Yes, only one week removed from his return on SmackDown Live, Delaney was already back on WWE TV to be Itami's opponent in his 205 Live debut. Here's hoping we see more of him in the future, he's an old school jobber. As for the match itself, Itami had an impressive outing. A majority of the crowd sat on their hands for it, sadly, but hey, it's better than not using him at all on NXT. Perhaps he'll get over in time with more appearances on Raw.
Cedric Alexander def. Drew Gulak
The Raw audience wasn't too hot for these two doing battle on Monday night despite it being a No. 1 Contender's match, so I fully expected the reaction to this rematch being no different. Gulak has grown on me in recent months and Alexander is an excellent athlete, but this feud is all about the tension being teased between Enzo Amore and Gulak. I'll be happy if it leads to Amore losing the Cruiserweight Championship to Alexander, but seeing is believing. At any rate, this was a solid match, but the crowd couldn't have cared less about it.
There are a few decent stories going on in the Cruiserweight division at the moment, but I can't say any of them are particularly doing much for me. Itami's arrival and ascent should be fun to watch and I appreciate Alexander getting a more prominent role on the show, but it will take more than that for fans to get invested in the division, especially with their first tour coming up in about a month. This was a slightly more newsworthy edition of 205 Live than usual with Itami making his official debut, but the rest was standard stuff.
