Hideo Itami def. Noam Dar
Before the bout, Ariya Daivari praised Itami and mentioned how he deserves elite competition. That led to Drake Maverick introducing Dar as Itami's opponent. I don't believe these two have ever clashed one-on-one before, so I enjoyed their encounter and thought it had a nice pace to it. Itami's victory adds to his momentum and further establishes him as a force to reckoned with on 205 Live.
Lio Rush def. Local Athlete
WWE may not have given him a name here, but the local athlete was actually Aaron Solow (Bayley's husband), who has made a handful of appearances on the show before. As for Rush, he hasn't been seen on 205 Live since losing to Cedric Alexander last month and has instead been busy managing Bobby Lashley on Raw. He returned to form by beating Solow in the matter of minute and talking trash beforehand.
The Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa def. Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher in a Street Fight
We've had a handful of street fights/no disqualification matches on 205 Live in the past, so this felt fairly tame in comparison. There were some cool spots and it was an overall entertaining affair, but for a blood feud, this should have had more of a sense of urgency and intensity. Perhaps it was the tag team format that held it back from being more? Nonetheless, this was a fun main event that saw the babyfaces finally conquer their demons.
205 Live wasn't the usual exciting hour of wrestling this week that we've come to expect from the Cruiserweight brand, but it was far from terrible. The main event wasn't as excellent as I hoped it would be, but it was still solid. Meanwhile, Rush returned to action with a win while Itami continued to roll by beating Dar. Next week's episode will be a "Best of 2018" show, so I don't expect to have a 205 Live review up until the new year.
