Kalisto, Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik def. The Brian Kendrick, Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Drew Gulak
I've said before that the Lucha House Party has been such a fun act on 205 Live this year, but Gulak, Gallagher and Kendrick have just as much potential to be a terrific trio as well. Their styles compliment each other very well and they showed solid chemistry in this match. I liked that everything came across as so smooth and clean in addition to it being nicely paced. The final few minutes were especially enjoyable and Dorado cheating to win was interesting. Percy Watson did play it up on commentary as it being a case of "what goes around, comes around," though.
Akira Tozawa def. Steve Irby
Tozawa has been spinning his wheels for a long while, and considering he is coming off a loss to Hideo Itami from a few weeks ago, he needed this victory to bounce back. This served as a showcase for Tozawa to allow fans to get familiar with his signature spots again. He's incredibly talented and I hope this is the start of him getting some momentum again, though I wouldn't be surprised if he's being built up only to be fed to someone else soon (such as the debuting Lio Rush).
Mustafa Ali def. Tony Nese
Ali has been one of WWE's biggest MVPs in 2018, producing great matches regardless of who his opponent is. Nese hardly excites me as a character, but his in-ring abilities can't be questioned and he had a good performance here. Cedric Alexander and Buddy Murphy didn't overshadow the action by being at ringside, so this was an entertaining encounter on the whole as Ali keeps himself in the Cruiserweight Championship conversation. Murphy vs. Ali vs. Itami next week should be stellar.
Similar to other recent editions of 205 Live, this was an easy-to-watch show where several storylines were furthered in the the tag team division as well as in the Cruiserweight Championship picture. Additionally, Tozawa picked up a much-needed win, TJP was given some time to talk, Itami made his presence felt without even being there, and another new vignette for Rush aired. If you aren't tuning into 205 Live on a weekly basis, you are doing yourself a major disservice. It is a completely different (and much better) show from what it used to be. It's just a shame WWE has yet to move it to Full Sail University where the crowd wouldn't be as lifeless.
