Drew Gulak def. Akira Tozawa
Tozawa was originally supposed to go one-on-one with Noam Dar, but before that bout could come to fruition, Gulak emerged and attacked Dar at ringside, taking his place in the process. Gulak hasn't been seen on 205 Live in nearly a month (though he did have a match on NXT with Kushida recently and lost) and it looks like he's going to be more aggressive now that he's back. This was the usual quality match from Gulak and Tozawa that received plenty of time and featured strong showings from both men. It was previously said that Tony Nese had handpicked Tozawa to be his next challenger, but with Gulak winning here, I can see that changing.
Oney Lorcan def. Ariya Daivari
The last time these two faced off, Daivari earned himself a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Once again, Lorcan carried Daivari to a good match. I will give Daivari credit for holding his own, but his boring character does nothing for me. Lorcan has been in dire need of a big victory for weeks now, so I was glad he finally got it here. I don't think he's next in line to challenge for the title, but him vs. Nese eventually would be excellent.
This crowd was worse than usual for 205 Live, which doesn't surprise me seeing as how they were fairly quiet during SmackDown Live, too. That aside, this was a solid edition of 205 Live on the whole. Both bouts delivered, and while neither one of them was exactly must-see, they established that there are a few different possible contenders to the Cruiserweight title right now. Plus, despite Mike Kanellis cutting a promo halfway through the show about how he's calling out all the Cruiserweights, I still think he's leaving the company when his contract expires this month.
