Mustafa Ali Saved WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto From Enzo Amore and Ariya Daivari
Kalisto hasn't been known as the greatest talker in the past, but this was a pretty passable promo from him, even though I wish he'd lay off the constant Eddie Guerrero mentions because they aren't doing him any favors. Enzo was also good with what he had to say and him being upset over the loss of the championship makes the title feel more meaningful. Ali saving Kalisto from the heels set up the night's main event nicely.
Rich Swann def. TJP in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match
I was enjoying this feud before it continued for no apparent reason, though I am happy we got another entertaining match out of them. I'm typically not a fan of the first fall in 2-out-of-3 Falls matches happening so early in the outing, but it was refreshing for this to end in just two falls. Swann and TJP work extremely well together and they put together a quality contest here. That said, it's time for them to move on.
Drew Gulak Attacked Akira Tozawa
We've seen Tozawa in action in recent weeks with Gulak sitting in on commentary, so I'm glad they switched up the formula a bit by having Gulak attack Tozawa before he could even make it to the ring. Better yet, Gulak's ambush was calculated, as he targeted his throat in an attempt to cease his chanting once and for all. That's actually really clever, and Gulak continues to grow on me as a character.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto and Mustafa Ali def. Enzo Amore and Ariya Daivari
Ali suffering from a lack of direction after his rivalry with Gulak wrapped up over the summer disappointed me, so it's great that he has some shine again in the form of this bad blood he has with Enzo. This was a well-wrestled main event with the in-ring work being decent and everyone playing their roles well. Enzo brutalized Ali on the outside right before the finish, but Kalisto managed to score the win, regardless
I never thought I would say this, but Enzo has been a pleasant surprise on 205 Live since joining the Cruiserweight division not too long ago. He is especially a blast to watch as a heel and I'd be interested to find out if his presence on the program has led to more eyes on the show at all. At any rate, this was a fun show with a solid main event, the Tozawa vs. Gulak story progressing, and an excellent 2-out-of-3 Falls match.
