Kushida and Gentleman Jack Gallagher def. The Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa
Well, Gallagher picking Kushida to be his mystery partner for this tag team match was certainly a pleasant surprise. Kushida hasn't been doing a whole lot on NXT lately, so honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to Kushida making a full-time move to 205 Live at some point. This was a pretty good match and Kushida had a very impressive showing. It's worth noting that some miscommunication between Kendrick and Tozawa led to their loss, so a split might be in the works sooner rather than later.
Humberto Carrillo and The Lucha House Party def. WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari
Carrillo and Lince Dorado vs. Gulak and Nese was originally advertised for this episode, but Ariya Daivari and Gran Metalik joined the fray before the bell, so it turned into a six-man tag team match instead. Personally, I enjoyed the hell out of this. It's just a shame the crowd was so distracted with something else going on in the audience for the better part of it. I found it to be disrespectful to the performers (who busted their ass and put on tremendous performances), but that's merely my opinion. These guys went out there and killed it, also while effectively giving Dorado a momentum-building win and providing hype for Sunday's WWE Cruiserweight Championship Triple Threat.
Putting aside the annoying crowd chants toward the end, this was a top-notch edition of 205 Live. The show is usually entertaining, but this episode was especially newsworthy with two excellent matches, the debut of Kushida, and hype for Clash of Champions this Sunday. 205 Live continues to be a blast to watch most weeks, which is why I'm nervous about its future once SmackDown Live moves to Fridays next month.
