Charlotte def. Alicia Fox
I was glad the women got an ample amount of in-ring time again, but as I've said countless times in the past, it won't mean anything until WWE starts to develop their characters. Charlotte definitely has her fair share of supporters, but if the fans knew more about her motivations and could relate to her as a character, that'd get her over even more. As for this match, it was slow early on and it took time for the crowd to get invested, but it was a nice outing on the whole and both women put forth a commendable effort.
Stardust def. Jack Swagger
This was designed to be a quick enhancement match for Stardust before the tag team at SummerSlam, but I was surprised he gave up as much offense to Swagger as he did. Swagger has been a glorified jobber for ages, so I didn't see the need in making him look good in defeat at the expense of Stardust. Nevertheless, it was a fun little match while it lasted and King Barrett performed well on commentary, which was expected given how talented of a talker he is.
WWE Tag Team Champions Prime Time Players def. The Ascension (Non-title)
These two teams have had a million matches against each other to the point where all of their encounters have blended together. This wasn't a bad match by any stretch and they switched up the stagnant formula at times, but it was mostly the same match they've always had with The Ascension taking control for the first half and Darren Young making a hot tag to Titus O'Neil for the finish. If nothing else, it was a good win for the tag champs going into SummerSlam and it's encouraging to see them getting more and more over with the audience by the week.
WWE tends to treat these shows like afterthoughts (more so than usual) on the week before a pay-per-view, but this was more focused on hyping SummerSlam than I initially thought. I could have done without the lengthy Raw replays and none of the matches are worth going out of your way to see, but I at least appreciated that all of the matches related to SummerSlam in one way or another.
