Curtis Axel and Ryback Interrupted Foley Claus
We are only one away until Christmas, so you had to know we were getting more holiday silliness than just "Good Santa vs. Bad Santa" on next week's Raw. Hey, I'm a fan of the holidays, so I didn't really mind it. Mick Foley always makes for a great Santa and it looks like he's genuinely having fun in the role. Ryback bullying Santa at this stage in his career doesn't surprise me in the slightest, but The Miz making the save helped set up the match match between him and Axel for later on in the night.
R-Truth and Xavier Woods def. 3MB
As much as I like Woods (get you mind out of the gutter, people), I couldn't care less about Truth. I don't mind them teaming, but I think the whole purpose of their pairing should be to get Woods over with the crowd. Thus, it would smarter if Woods was allowed to pick up the victory for the team instead of Truth. The match was decent enough, but anything involving 3MB isn't going to be a five star mat classic.
Divas Champion AJ Lee def. Kaitlyn (Non-title)
These two had one of the best Divas matches of the year back at June's Payback pay-per-view, coincidentally enough the same event where AJ won the Divas Championship for the first time. This match obviously wasn't as great, but it was still given a substantial amount of time and was above average by Diva standards. AJ continues to score victories despite the apparent "heat" on her backstage.
The Miz def. Curtis Axel
On paper, one would think that this match would have been boring as hell, but it actually ended up being somewhat enjoyable. Axel isn't the most charismatic Superstar, of course, but he garnered good heat from the crowd and they were also strongly behind Miz. It might have been due to the fact Foley Claus was in his corner, who was also a fun addition to ringside by delivering the "North Pole Claw" to Ryback. It is still unknown as to whether Miz is face or heel, but does it really matter by this point? The crowd reacted to him well on this show, which goes to show that he can be a solid babyface when motivated and given good material to work with.
Personally, I got a kick out of this show, if only because I love the holidays and all (or at least most) of the Christmas silliness WWE does around this time of the year. I enjoyed The Miz's interaction with Foley Claus, the AJ-Kaitlyn match was good, and the opening tag match was fine for what it was. I wouldn't advise anyone to go out of their way to watch this show, but it was dumb fun for those who tuned in.
