The Ascension def. Local Athletes
The Ascension saying during their pre-match promo the "old farts" being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame were "irrelevant jokes" was both ironically and unintentionally hilarious, and that's coming from someone who enjoys their work! Nevertheless, their promo work wasn't nearly as bad as it was in the past, and it was smart to keep it short, sweet and to the point. We got two years worth of squash matches from The Ascension down in NXT, so I hope it doesn't become the norm on the main roster. I'm hopeful that it's only in the temporary before they move into their first feud with The Usos or another tandem.
Naomi def. Natayla
Although it was far too short, Naomi and Natalya had a really nice match here. I also appreciated how it had something of a story behind it given their ties to The Usos and Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, so at least it wasn't completely random. It's a shame more isn't being done with either one of these women because they're so tremendously talented. These are the type of matches we should be seeing on Raw and SmackDown, even if they are this short.
Cesaro def. Sin Cara
Despite his impressive performances in recent weeks, I still couldn't care less about the Sin Cara character right now. Hunico (the person under the mask) is actually quite good, but the gimmick is what's holding him back. Either way, I was able to let my horrid memories of the failed Sin Cara push subside so I could enjoy this match for what it was. It was slightly slow early on, but they picked up the pace down the stretch and delivered a fun final few minutes. Cesaro was particularly fun to watch, proving why WWE officials should have never abandoned his singles push as quickly as they did. I was also glad the match got as much time as it did and they made the most of it.
The first two matches, while fine for what they were, were nothing special, but Cesaro vs. Sin Cara is definitely worth going out of your way to watch. I wouldn't sign up for a Hulu Plus account just to see it, but at the very least catch the final few minutes on WWE's YouTube page. Main Event has been neglected by WWE since it was kicked off the Network, but it's nice to see a solid, lengthy match prominently featured for once.
