Neville and Zack Ryder def. Stardust and Tyler Breeze
If this looked like a random assortment of Superstars on paper, that's because it was. At the very least, Ryder and Stardust do have something of a rivalry going on since they have been trading wins as of late. As for Neville and Breeze, I have zero idea why they were involved, but it surely made for a fun matchup. Although none of these four guys are doing anything of note at the moment, they're all excellent athletes, so it wasn't surprising in the least that they worked well together. Stardust is a lost cause at this point (with that character anyway), but there is hope for Breeze yet if they can give him something meaningful to do.
Paige def. Summer Rae
Their match on Monday's Raw felt out of place given it was a go-home show, but they were allowed to have the match they are capable of contesting on Main Event. Summer has been largely misused as a wrestler in recent years, but hopefully her impressive outing versus the former two-time Divas Champion turned a few heads in terms of what she can do in the ring. The pre-match promos were also a nice touch and made this feel like more than just a standard rematch. I'd actually like to see this feud play out a bit more in the weeks ahead, even if it was only on Main Event and Superstars.
WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day def. The Social Outcasts
We received a small taste of the entertainment these two tandems could provide when they collided on SmackDown several weeks back, but this was an extended version of it and they knocked it out of the park. New Day and Social Outcasts going back and forth on the mic beforehand was glorious and their antics during the matchup itself were entertaining as all hell. Granted, I have zero idea whether Social Outcasts are supposed to be a babyface or heel act, but they're a guilty pleasure of mine, nevertheless. I would love to see them cross paths again the near future on either of the main shows.
I don't think it's a stretch to say that this was the best all-around edition of Main Event in some time. The opening tag team match was very well-wrestled and a nice change of pace, the women's match exceeded expectations and was better than what we saw from them on Raw, and the six-man tag team main event is definitely worth going out of your way to see. I don't normally recommend watching Main Event in its entirety, but this episode is the exception.
