Paul Heyman Offered an Injury Update on Cesaro
In was announced on WWE.com early Tuesday that Cesaro was cleared for competition on Main Event, so Heyman saying he wouldn't be competing on this show was a bit confusing. Dolph Ziggler and Rob Van Dam's promos were decent, but everyone else's was mediocre, especially Big E. What the hell was that? His preacher gimmick is getting dumber and dumber by the week and I can't believe he's sticking with it even though he's not feuding with Rusev anymore. If nothing else, this segment established the new main event match well.
Luke Harper and Erick Rowan def. R-Truth and Xavier Woods
This was a complete squash match for The Wyatt Family, not that it should have been anything different. I'd rant about how underutilized Woods is at the moment, but I'd simply be wasting my time. This match didn't need to go on any longer than it did and it succeeded in boosting the momentum of Harper and Rowan after a loss to The Usos at Money in the Bank.
The Funkadactyls def. Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox
Well, I guess the tension teased between Naomi and Cameron on Monday's Raw didn't mark the official end of The Funkadactyls after all. There was dissension in the ranks on this show as well, but it wasn't as much of the focus this time around. Fox has been cast as a crazy character as of late, so why would Nikki even bother trying to tag her in? Why did she think she could trust her? The logic there was lost and then Nikki didn't even seem upset afterward. She just looked like she was on the verge of crying. Very strange stuff.
Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam and Big E def. Cesaro and Rybaxel
The match featured some talented individuals but it wasn't anything spectacular. The action was enjoyable for what it was, but nothing anyone should go out of their way to see. Everyone played their parts well and Ziggler picking up the clean victory was a pleasant surprise. However, was it really that smart to have Cesaro lose clean two nights in a row? They might use the injury as an out for the loss, but why couldn't Ziggler have been either Axel or Ryback instead?
The only newsworthy about this episode was the fact that Ziggler, Big E, RVD and Rybaxel were announced as participants in the Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal at Battleground. Aside from that, this was a pretty ho-hum edition of Main Event with nothing I'd suggest you go back and watch. The tag team was a squash, the Divas match was odd and the main event was decent at best. Hopefully Main Event can go back to been consistently entertaining soon.
