Los Matadores def. Slater Gator
First off, the Slater Gator entrance theme mash-up is horrendous. I appreciate the effort they put into making them more of a team, but does it really matter for a tandem that loses more often than they win? It was a comedy fest, especially with Adam Rose and "The Bunny" on commentary, but thankfully it didn't last long or overstay its welcome. WWE needs more viable contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championships, so instead of focusing on these acts, why not build up an actual team as a threat to the twin titles?
Mark Henry Addressed the WWE Universe
Targeting the audience was a weird way of turning heel only a week removed from his rallying of the United States, but at the same time, it was realistic. It's logical to think that he'd be frustrated with the crowd turning on him, but it would have worked better if audiences were booing Henry more than they have been. I'm not sure if this is leading to a heel turn from Henry, but I'd sure love to see it. He works better in that role anyway, but I fear we're in for another boring feud between him and Big Show. Please don't let that be the case.
Paige def. Naomi
These two have proven in the past that they can have a good match if given an ample amount of time, but this match was too brief to be anything of note. It was a quick win for Paige to give her heat back from Night of Champions, so it was effective in that respect. I'm somewhat glad they're continuing the feud between AJ Lee and Paige, but they really need to ditch the lesbian teases and focus more on the wrestling. Fans just aren't into the angle as it is.
Kofi Kingston def. Bo Dallas
I expected another squash win for Dallas, but his pre-match promo foreshadowed Kingston's victory. Dallas is such an entertaining act that it boggles my mind they've essentially already given up on him. His winning streak had potential, but since it was ended by R-Truth (I'm still not over that), it's been all downhill. The win doesn't do much for Kingston, either, since I don't see this translating to a push for him.
The Miz Hosted 'Miz TV' with Dean Ambrose
Ambrose and Miz had yet to cross paths beforehand, so this was felt fresh and was an interesting clash of personalities. The logic of Ambrose escaping through a backdoor in the room on Raw was flawed in that it's asinine to think The Authority would put him in a room with two doors, but at least they attempted to explain it instead of forgetting about it. I enjoyed the segment and hope to see Miz and Ambrose clash again at some point soon.
The show had a rocky start with the comedy tag team match, but it found a nice flow from there. This was a much more noteworthy edition of Main Event than usual with the teasing of a heel turn from Mark Henry and Dean Ambrose making an appearance. The in-ring action was rushed, but it was definitely an above-average episode on the whole.
