Ligero def. Mark Andrews
This battle of the babyfaces was every bit as entertaining as you'd expect given their similar styles in the ring. This was the perfect bout to kick off the show with because of how fun it was and how the crowd was engaged in the action. Despite being very talented, Ligero has suffered from a lack of direction on NXT UK so far, so here's hoping this victory puts him back on the right path.
Xia brookside def. Candy Floss
This was another outing that pitted two babyfaces against each other, but at least it was clear going on that Brookside was the focal point. She's super impressive considering how young she is and I'm sure she'll only continue to improve the more matches she has. Floss didn't look too shabby herself, but this was all about Brookside and giving her a credible victory. They (along with Toni Storm) were laid out afterward by Rhea Ripley, who will be getting her rematch for the NXT UK Women's Championship soon enough.
Joseph Conners def. "Wild Boar" Mike Hitchman
This is nothing new, but Conners bores me to tears. Therefore, I couldn't care less about this renewed push he's receiving at the moment. He just doesn't excite me in the slightest, and although this was supposed to serve as a showcase for him, he didn't do anything to pique my interest. Here's hoping he's been built up just to lose to someone else, because so far, he hasn't done anything to change my opinion of him.
Joe Coffey def. Ashton Smith
This was Coffey's first match on NXT UK since he lost to Pete Dunne back at TakeOver: Blackpool. It allowed him to bounce back from the loss and it was a pretty good bout to boot. I haven't seen Smith on the show in a while (at least to my memory), but he has potential and worked well with Coffey here. Coffey going over was the right call, especially given what would happen to his brother immediately after...
WALTER def. Mark Coffey
Although Gallus picked up a bit of a momentum boost with Joe beating Smith right before this, Mark was then fed to WALTER in a highly enjoyable squash. I'd even argue Mark was on offense way longer than he should have been. He hasn't been positioned on this show as strongly as Joe and Wolfgang have been, so I don't think there would have been much of an issue with WALTER defeating Mark with ease. Nevertheless, it's obvious WALTER has his sights set on the WWE United Kingdom Championship.
Any edition of NXT UK featuring WALTER is worth checking out in my opinion because the guy is an absolute spectacle. The main event was short, sweet and exactly what it needed to be. Everything else was largely solid. Although I didn't particularly care for Conners' match, the other three matches were well-wrestled and served a purpose. I believe the next few episodes were taped from Royal Rumble Axxess, so hopefully the fans in attendance there are as lively as the ones at these shows.
