Ligero def. Joseph Conners
I've never cared much for Conners, but this might have been his best showing on NXT UK to date. Sure, it can be argued that Ligero carried him to a quality contest, but I thought Conners held his own and I liked his intensity. As for Ligero, he never disappoints, and I really hope his victory here can lead to him becoming a bigger focal point on the brand. This was a very enjoyable to open the episode with.
Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel def. Stoker and Howley
As I've noted before, Aichner and Barthel have been a blast to watch in NXT UK and in NXT as of late and their matches are always entertaining. Of course, Stoker and Howley were two enhancement guys and thus the outcome was never in doubt, but I was surprised this lasted as long as it did. On the bright side, at least it gave Aichner and Barthel more time to showcase their skills.
Nina Samuels def. Charlie Morgan
I can't believe that of all the ladies in the NXT UK women's division to focus on, Samuels is the one getting the big push at the moment. I don't think she'll by vying for the NXT UK Women's Championship any time soon, but she's clearly favored by officials if her recent winning streak has been any indication. She did fairly well for herself here, but once again, nothing about her stands out as special to me. Not even the pre-match vignette did anything to get me invested in her.
Jordan Devlin def. Travis Banks in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
Devlin and Banks have had a terrific feud since the start of the year and I loved how they wasted no time in taking the fight to each other as soon as Devlin made his entrance. They took full advantage of the stipulation by brawling all around the arena and the action was extremely exciting as a result. You could feel the bad blood between the two and the crowd provided the perfect atmosphere for this. I'm a fan of Banks winning in the end because he deserves to be positioned as a top heel on the brand.
The main event was excellent and absolutely worth going out of your way to see, while the opener was well-wrestled and better than I expected it to be. Additionally, the two squash matches with Aichner and Barthel and Samuels going over were solid and succeeded in what they set out to do, making this a pretty good show on the whole. Next week's episode will be headlined by Pete Dunne and WALTER vs. Gallus.
