Moustache Mountain def. Saxon Huxley and Sam Gradwell
Tyler Bate and Trent Bate have been dominating the singles ranks in recent weeks and this was their first outing in tag team action on the NXT UK brand. Although the tag team titles have yet to be officially announced, these two have to be in the running to be crowned the inaugural champs. They had an enjoyable opening match with Huxley and Gradwell here and had the crowd with them every step of the way.
Isla Dawn def. Nina Samuels
Of all the women who have been introduced in the NXT UK women's division thus far, I can't say Dawn leads the list of those who have impressed me the most. She has a unique look and style, I suppose, but nothing about this match screamed special to me. Rather, it was a fairly formulaic matchup with Dawn picking up the win. It was by no means bad, but Dawn could have done more to shine in her debut.
Jordan devlin def. Tucker
Devlin showed some really good heel tendencies during both installments of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, so I could certainly him being slotted as a solid midcard heel for this brand. He can hold his own in the ring and doesn't need to do much to turn the audience against him. This was a nice little match between him and Tucker that provided Devlin with a boost of momentum.
Mark Andrews def. Wolfgang
Andrews is one of my favorites in NXT UK because of his exciting aerial abilities and how he tends to work well with just about everyone he steps in the ring with. Sure enough, Wolfgang was no exception and the two contested an above-average main event. Andrews has been a thorn in the side of the Coffey brothers as of late, so it made sense for them to resurface afterward and attempt to attack Andrews. Although Flash Morgan Webster made the save, he was laid out by Wolfgang, so a six-man tag team matchup appears to be in the works.
I'm not sure if WWE plans to air two episodes of NXT UK each week going forward, but I'd prefer they stick to just one or turn it into a two-hour show. Otherwise, it's confusing to air two different episodes back-to-back. At any rate, this was a perfectly fine show with a quality main event and more storylines successfully progressing. NXT UK very much feels like an extension of NXT with familiar faces returning, new ones being introduced, and feuds taking shape relatively quickly. It's an easy hour of wrestling to digest for sure.
