Imperium def. Danny Jones and Harry Green
Before the bout, all of Imperium spoke about their dominance about and how there aren't any threats left to WALTER. Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel then wrestled and made quick work of their opponents. They're always a blast to watch in the ring and this was no exception. I'm genuinely curious who will be next to challenge WALTER for the WWE United Kingdom Championship since he's already decimated a majority of the roster.
Jordan Devlin def. Ashton Smith
I could've sworn we've seen this match before. It was fine while it lasted but ultimately didn't accomplish anything. Smith is a good hand to have in the ring, but it's obvious he's a glorified enhancement talent and that beating him means nothing. Meanwhile, Devlin continues to flounder. I'm glad he's picking up victories, but he needs a solid sense of direction and should be higher up on the totem pole than he is right now.
Tegan Nox def. Shax
Nox has been out of action for almost a year, so it's great that she's finally back. Between her look, mic skills, in-ring ability and natural connection with the crowd, she's the complete package and can go far in any women's division if she stays healthy. This was a total squash with Nox hitting one or two moves and then winning with ease. Kay Lee Ray interrupted her post-match celebration, so they're clearly on a collision course and will do battle eventually.
NXT UK Tag Team Champions Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster def. The Grizzled Young Veterans
I expected a full-on banger between these two teams, and while it was an entertaining encounter, it never reached the level I thought it could. There was too much nonsense with illegal tags and stuff along those lines, but their chemistry is strong enough that they were able to make the most of it and deliver in spite of the shenanigans. I realize Andrews and Webster won clean, but I'm hoping the feud isn't over yet.
This post-TakeOver: Cardiff edition of NXT UK was a mixed bag. The tag team titles being defended and Nox making her in-ring return made it a newsworthy episode, but the main event wasn't as excellent as it had the potential to be, and the rest of the show was just sort of there. Devlin vs. Smith and Imperium's promo felt like placeholders, so hopefully things start to pick back up again soon. Unfortunately, I don't know if doing a rematch between Kassius Ohno and Sid Scala under British Grounds Rules will help with that at all.
