Rhea Ripley def. Piper Niven
These two have had a fun feud since Piper made her NXT UK debut and I enjoyed their last encounter. This was equally entertaining, though the crowd largely sided with Ripley. Niven is very talented, but Ripley is a total star, so it's hard to blame them. They didn't have a ton of time to work with, but they made the most of the time they had and Ripley winning was the right call. It will be interesting to see if they have a rubber match or if this was supposed to mark the end of their rivalry.
Kassius Ohno def. Sid Scala
Ohno was originally scheduled to face off against Gentleman Jack Gallagher in a rematch from a few weeks ago, but apparently Gallagher wasn't medically cleared to compete. Scala took his place instead. It was an interesting and unexpected choice, especially considering he hasn't wrestled since becoming the assistant general manager late last year. This was way more competitive than I thought it would be, but I mean that in as a positive. The crowd was into Scala's offense and rallied behind him whenever he came close to winning. He ultimately fell short of victory, but he had a solid showing in defeat.
Although this followed the same formula that most post-TakeOver shows do, it was significantly shorter than usual at just under 40 minutes. It featured the typical highlight videos from TakeOver: Cardiff (which is absolutely worth going out of your way to check out because it was so great) and the two matches were pretty good. Nothing really to see here if you tuned into TakeOver, but it was announced that Tegan Nox will return to action on next week's episode (finally!) in addition to The Grizzled Young Veterans invoking their rematch clause for the NXT UK Tag Team Championship.
