Zack Ryder def. Heath Slater
It was logical to kick off the episode with New York native Zack Ryder as the crowd took a liking to him during the match, though not as much as they would have a few years ago. He's another one who the audience has basically given up on, sadly. Regardless, it was a short and sweet match from Ryder and Slater and while we've seen it multiple times in the past, they never cease to have enjoyable in-ring chemistry together.
Los Matadores def. The Ascension
The Matadores gimmick is bad enough, but what's worse is that not even Creative cares enough about them to firmly establish them as babyfaces or heels. They were heels in their match with the Prime Time Players on Main Event this week, and then babyfaces in this match against Ascension. I couldn't care less anyway and based off the crowd reaction to this match, most fans don't, either. They were dead silent and you could have heard a pin drop after the Matadores won.
As a "broski" myself, it was a treat seeing Ryder in action in his native New York, but his match wasn't good enough to justify watching the whole show. The Raw recaps are a nice way of reliving the excitement from Monday night, but the Matadores vs. Ascension match was a glorified waste of time and I might have recommended watching this edition if a better match had taken place.
