Sin Cara def. Viktor
Well, it looks like Viktor's demonic face paint was short-lived because he was back to sporting his Ascension stripes in this match. It's a shame, too, because that was basically the only thing he had going for him without Konnor, who should be back in the next few weeks. Sin Cara, who screams "damaged goods," isn't that much better, but at least his offense can be entertaining at times (when he isn't botching, that is). This wasn't a bad bout by any means, though it was painfully boring with Viktor dominating a majority of the match and the crowd sat on their hands throughout as a result.
Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder def. The Dudley Boyz
This was a random matchup considering Ziggler is currently feuding with Baron Corbin, The Dudley Boyz are fresh off a feud with Enzo Amore and Big Cass, and Ryder isn't doing anything of note at the moment. That said, I enjoyed this for what it was. As Tom Phillips noted on commentary, this marked the first time Ryder and Ziggler have teamed up, which blew my mind given how long each of them have been with the company. The two tandems broke away from the tired formula of most tag team matches and worked well together, producing a better bout than I initially expected. The Dudley Boyz shouldn't have lost to the makeshift tag team, but with Ziggler busy with Corbin right now, I can't say I was surprised.
Cara vs. Viktor was exactly what you would expect it to be, so feel free to skip over that match, but the subsequent tag team matchup was solid and I appreciated how it was different from what we usually get on this show. Additionally, the Raw recaps were worth watching and the show was a treat this week, making this a harmlessly average edition of Superstars.
