WWE Superstars Review - September 18, 2014

PictureLuke Harper asserts his dominance on Los Matadores.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan def. Los Matadores

I don't see The Wyatt Family being on Superstars as bringing star power to the program but rather a demotion for the duo given their bad booking as of late. I was glad that they didn't struggle to put away Los Matadores here and instead made quick work of them. This was the first win Harper and Rowan have picked up in a while, but it shouldn't be happening on a barely watched show such as Superstars. The talented tandem deserves so much better than this.

Sin Cara def. Justin Gabriel

Ah, the obligatory rubber match we always get on Superstars every so often. And by every so often I mean all the time. In all seriousness, Gabriel and Cara work so well together that I'd have no problem with them having more matches against each other. There were a few botches during the bout that interrupted the flow at one point, but they recovered nicely and worked a fun match. I was also glad to see Gabriel portray the full-fledged heel this time around. On a site note, why wasn't Cara acknowledged as one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions? The Ascension brought the belts with them to the main roster when they faced Los Matadores a few weeks ago on Main Event, so why not Cara?

Overall Show

A Wyatt Family match on Superstars was a refreshing change of pace, even though it may not bode well for the future of the duo. Even still, I enjoyed their squash of Los Matadores and Cara vs. Gabriel III was entertaining as well. The Raw recaps are worth skipping over, but make time to watch the Cara vs. Gabriel match when you get a free minutes. It's amazing that WWE hasn't done more with Gabriel in his four years on the main roster.
