By Graham "GSM" Matthews John Cena and Daniel Bryan Interrupted WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton Orton's promo wasn't necessarily bad, but it certainly wasn't anything of note. Cena's promo was much of the same, and I dislike how he comes off as superior to Bryan. In a way, he is, but they should be portrayed as equals on television. It was good to see Bryan finally get mic time and show some aggression when confronting Orton. There was a good deal of foreshadowing done here with Bryan teasing a potential rematch with Cena down the road. The Shield's interruption and CM Punk making the save helped set up the main event match for later in the night. Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston def. Jack Swagger (Non-title) This was a nice follow-up of the tag team match between The Real Americans and Langston and Mark Henry from Raw this past week, but I don't see what point it served aside from furthering Langston's momentum. I am very high on The Real Americans as a team, but it doesn't look like they'll be branching off in singles competition to chase the mid-card titles any time soon. It was a basic squash for Langston, which is a shame given the fact Swagger was a force to be reckoned with earlier this year.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Magnus Accused Jeff Hardy I like the fact they tried to add extra heat to the match, but it was too little too late for late. I, for one, appreciated the references to Hardy's heel turn at 2010's Bound For Glory event, but I am not sure a majority of the audience felt the same way since it is very possible they don't recall. The delivery both Magnus and Hardy wasn't great and the live crowd unfortunately couldn't have cared less. It very well might have been the material that they were working with, but the live crowd could have easily been tired out after a long set of tapings. Bobby Roode def. Kurt Angle in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match I had high expectations for this match, which is why it might have felt like somewhat of a letdown for me. Don't get me wrong, though: the action was very good in the final fall, but the first two falls felt inconsequential and it was difficult to get engaged in what was going on. These two have excellent chemistry together based off their previous two great matches, but this encounter was the worst of the three. They seemed to be holding back a bit, which would be fine if the feud is set to continue, but with Roode winning three times in a row against Angle (not complaints there), how much longer can this rivalry go on for? By Graham "GSM" Matthews Triple H Addressed the Full Sail University Crowd I usually despite it when Triple H flip-flops back and forth between being a face and a heel when he really should be a full-fledged heel while a part of The Authority, but I sometimes think of NXT as an alternate universe from what is happening on the main roster, so I was fine with him playing to the crowd a bit here. The revamping of NXT was mostly his idea after all, so you have HHH to think for this great weekly wrestling program. It was a standard segment to kick off the show and very fitting given that this was NXT's 200th episode. Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd def. Leo Krueger and Antonio Cesaro After the disappointment of a match between Zayn and Krueger in last week's main event, this match more than made up for it. It consisted of exilerating action throughout and the live crowd was very much into the matchup. It was a very cool moment when Cesaro and Zayn were both tagged in and the crowd responded with a "Match of the Year" chant. They have always work well together and this bout was no exception. Kidd and Krueger also played their parts well and the finishing sequence with the babyfaces going over was excellent. Zayn needed his win back after last week and more teasing was done as far as Krueger potentially joining The Real Americans at some point. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Curtis Axel and Ryback Interrupted Foley Claus We are only one away until Christmas, so you had to know we were getting more holiday silliness than just "Good Santa vs. Bad Santa" on next week's Raw. Hey, I'm a fan of the holidays, so I didn't really mind it. Mick Foley always makes for a great Santa and it looks like he's genuinely having fun in the role. Ryback bullying Santa at this stage in his career doesn't surprise me in the slightest, but The Miz making the save helped set up the match match between him and Axel for later on in the night. R-Truth and Xavier Woods def. 3MB As much as I like Woods (get you mind out of the gutter, people), I couldn't care less about Truth. I don't mind them teaming, but I think the whole purpose of their pairing should be to get Woods over with the crowd. Thus, it would smarter if Woods was allowed to pick up the victory for the team instead of Truth. The match was decent enough, but anything involving 3MB isn't going to be a five star mat classic. |
