Roman Reigns Challenged Chris Jericho to a United States Championship RematchI was so happy when Reigns stopped saying that he was "the guy" after he was dropped from the main event scene in the latter half of 2016, but it appears he is back to using that line now that he is on the verge of becoming WWE Universal Champion. Ugh. And officials expect us to like him? The mic work from everyone involved in this segment was decent and it set up the title match for later in the night nicely, but it's been rinse and repeat with these three for months. Luke Gallows def. Raw Tag Team Champion CesaroI guess the story they're trying to tell with Cesaro and Sheamus and The Club is that The Club can't cheat if there's two referees around, hence why their tag title match at the Royal Rumble will have two referees. It was a mediocre match otherwise, but the damage has been done to The Club and thus there isn't much life to the feud. It's sort of just there. Gallows winning was good, though, but the heels need all the momentum they can get right now.

By Thomas Brunt Ever since the inception of the brand separation in July, it has been well documented that SmackDown Live has been the better show. In the draft, it seemed as though Raw drafted the better roster, therefore they would be the superior brand. However, that logic has not proven to be true. Raw usually has more viewers tuned in on Monday nights, but SmackDown has recently caught up and even gotten the edge in ratings, recently which according to SmackDown Live GM, Daniel Bryan was a first for the blue brand. With all that at the forefront, here are my five reasons why SmackDown Live is the superior show.
Eli Drake, Trevor Lee, The DCC and TNA World Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy def. TNA World Tag Team Champion "Broken" Matt Hardy, Mike Bennett, Mahabali Shera, Crazzy Steve and Jessie Godderz in a Race For the Case MatchAs stupid as the Feast or Fired match was with employees legitimately being fired from the company (check out Chavo Guerrero's story from a few years ago for the full details), at least the concept seemed to make sense. I was beyond confused with the rules of this match and each briefcase containing a number. What if Jeff or Matt won a briefcase and decided to challenge for their own championship? And why was Jeff declared the sole winner of the briefcase but the entire DCC won theirs? Again, the match was a mess, and instead of giving the gimmick a makeover, they should have done away with it all together. Lashley Called Out TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eddie EdwardsEvery match Lashley and Edwards have had so far over the world title has been entertaining, but I'm getting tired of seeing the same faces in the title picture week after week. This has to be where Lashley regains the gold, right? Otherwise, why have him lose multiple times to Edwards? I enjoyed this verbal exchange, and although Edwards came off well, I thought Lashley especially shined. He doesn't get enough credit for being one of TNA's stronger talkers right now.
By RJ Marceau Since Samoa Joe lost his NXT Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at the NXT Japan live event he hasn’t been seen on NXT TV. Joe isn’t advertised for NXT TakeOver: San Antonio so a call-up should happen at the Royal Rumble. I am conflicted in how they should debut Joe whether he interferes in the WWE Championship match between John Cena and AJ Styles or in the Royal Rumble match.
Either way, it would be a surprise but I think him screwing either AJ Styles or John Cena would be a bigger shock. If I was booking it, I would have him screw John Cena to help AJ retain his title. As of now, it seems like they don’t have plans for either AJ or Cena at WrestleMania. Joe would be a perfect opponent for John Cena at WrestleMania. It’s rumored that Cena will be more of a part-timer in 2017 so they could start the feud at the Rumble, face off at WrestleMania and could even wrestle at SummerSlam. I won’t say losing at WrestleMania would kill his career because AJ Styles lost to Jericho but it seems idiotic to have these guys built up to lose at WrestleMania when that is all people will remember. |
