By Graham "GSM" Matthews Tyler Breeze def. Kalisto It was refreshing to see Kalisto on his own for once, as I've expressed in the past, he has potential to be a breakout star in singles competition once his tandem with Sin Cara runs its course. Breeze had a very good outing here as well and the styles of both competitors meshed nicely. They developed fun chemistry down the stretch and put together a nice matchup with a fantastic looking finish. I also love how Breeze continues to gain credibility with the clean victories, first with Itami last week and and now Kalisto this week. NXT Tag Team Champion Blake def. Colin Cassady Blake and Murphy still need some character development in order to establish an identity for themselves, but they took a step in the right direction by cheating toward the end. Other than that, the crowd didn't care much for the match, but Cassady and Amore were insanely over with their pre-match promo, though. The tag champs needed to get one over the challengers and get heat on themselves, but hopefully Amore and Cassady can build momentum before the eventual tag title match.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Curtis Axel def. Jack Swagger Axel and Swagger are two very good workers, and while this wasn't the most exciting match I've ever seen, the crowd was at least somewhat into it given who was involved. Swagger, although he's been horribly misused since turning babyface, is still over with audiences, whereas Axel has organically won over the crowd with his Axelmania shtick. Their match was the most well wrestled one on the show and Axel winning was a pleasant surprise (his first victory since the Royal Rumble according to the commentators), so that alone warrants a thumbs up from me. Naomi def. Alicia Fox While I give credit to AJ Lee, Paige and The Bella Twins for improving the state of the Divas division in the last month or so, there's still plenty of women in the division that WWE isn't doing anything with, including Naomi and Fox. They're two incredible athletes that deserve to be on the main shows more often, and hopefully in time they will. They worked a pretty nice matchup with good showings from both women, even with the time they were allotted. Fox had her time, but I hope Naomi will be in Divas Championship contention before long. By Thomas Brunt WrestleMania 31 has just as much potential to be a hit as it does to be a miss. The card offers a few interesting matchups for the grand-daddy of them all, but little to no build to make its audience completely sold on for the main-event, that is unless if you count Paul Heyman which can only make it up to an extent. The Champion, Brock Lesnar has been on, but not in use. Although it's understood where Lesnar will head after the show, this still does absolutely nothing to promote the main event match of WrestleMania. The other deck of cards for the WrestleMania matches like Sting vs. Triple H or Bray Wyatt vs the Undertaker are also risks in that they either haven't been hyped enough, or that the build to them have been repetitive, and that's something many fans have seen in recent years. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Seth Rollins Accepted Randy Orton's WrestleMania Challenge Rollins' ability to turn his own own state against him goes to show how much a star he's become. He carried this segment until Orton came out as I zoned out while the rest of The Authority was talking (and can you honestly blame me?). The two had a short and sweet exchange on the mic that confirmed their match for WrestleMania as well as their match in the main event of Raw. It was an effective way of building interest in what might happen so close to the event. Am I alone in saying that this match feels more like the main event of 'Mania than Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns does? Divas Champion Nikki Bella def. AJ Lee (Non-title) After being cut short for time last week, it was nice to see the women get a little longer of a match on this show. The crowd may not have been hot for it (it's going to take some time for WWE to make people care about Diva matches again), but they worked a good match with logical interference from Paige and Brie Bella on the outside. I was also glad to see Nikki not lose another non-title match for no reason. Still, I wish they'd give the ladies more mic time to talk about their upcoming tag team match. |
